  • Patent number: 9435485
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for dispensing a lubricant (3) in a metered manner by means of a lubricant dispenser, which comprises a lubricant cartridge (2) filled with lubricant (3), at least one electrochemical gas-generating cell (4), and on control electronics (1) for controlling the gas-generating cell (4). The control electronics (1) comprise a microcontroller (8) and a switch (9) for interrupting the current flowing through the gas-generating cell (4). At adjustable time intervals, the circuit through the gas-generating cell (4) is closed by the control electronics (1) and lubricant (3) is displaced from the cartridge (2) by the released gas. During the gas generation, the electric current flowing through the gas-generating cell (4) is measured and the charge that has flowed through the gas-generating cell (4) is added up. The circuit is interrupted when the added-up charge has exceeded a specified cumulative amount of charge.

  • Patent number: 8978828
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for metered dispensing of lubricants using a lubricant dispenser comprising a reservoir chamber filled with lubricant, a gas generating unit for electrochemically generating gas, a piston acted on by the generated gas for outputting the lubricant from the reservoir chamber, and an electronic control unit for controlling the electrochemical gas generation. According to the invention, the temperature of the lubricant or the environment is measured at time intervals, and an average temperature value is derived from a plurality of measured temperature values. Using stored correction values describing the temperature-dependence of the electrochemical gas generating rate, a control parameter determining the electrochemical gas generation is set for the average temperature value, having the requirement that the gas generating rate at the average temperature value corresponds to the target value that correlates to prescribed dispensing time.

  • Patent number: 8905194
Abstract: A lubricant dispenser having a cartridge, a wall in the cartridge defining therein a lower chamber and an upper chamber, and a piston subdividing the lower chamber into a lower lubricant compartment and an upper gas compartment. The cartridge has an outlet opening into the lower lubricant compartment. A body of fluent lubricant fills the lower lubricant compartment. A housing in the upper chamber holds a gas generator connected through the wall to the gas compartment and electrically energizeable to generate gas and pressurize the gas compartment. A battery is secured to the housing. An electronic controller removably mounted in the upper chamber has electrical contacts connectable to the battery and to the gas generator. It is powerable by the battery for operating the gas generator and thereby pressurizing the gas compartment, moving the piston, and forcing the lubricant out of the outlet.
