  • Patent number: 7822294
Abstract: In a method for producing three-dimensionally structured surfaces of objects as a reproduction of an original surface, the topology of the original surface is determined, and the data are used for controlling a machining tool. The determined topology and a random topology of a reproduction surface are brought closer to one another via a series of proximity comparisons until all items of height information of the reproduction surface are successively replaced by items of height information from the original surface, and that once an established similarity between the topologies of the reproduction surface and the original surface is obtained, the items of height information of the reproduction surface are provided for controlling the machine tool serving to machine the surface of the object.

  • Patent number: 7534318
Abstract: A textured, layered mold-formed body is produced with a foil laminate in which a top foil of at most partially crosslinked polymer materials and a sub-foil containing a polymer foam material with a density between 35 and 120 grams per liter and a gel content of less than 80 percent are laminated together. The foil laminate is embossed with a texture and treated with electron beams to give the texture enough stability for a subsequent deep-drawing step in which the mold-formed body is produced.

  • Publication number: 20050260397
Abstract: A plastic foam material based on polyolefins containing 50-90 wt. % of polypropylene-based plastic and 10-50 wt. % of polyethylene-based plastic with a melt flow index MFI (190° C./2.16 kg) of less than 50 g/10 min is described, where the plastic foam material has a density of 0.03-0.2 g/cm3. This plastic foam material is characterized in that it contains 20-70 wt. % of crosslinked polyolefin, in that the polyethylene-based plastic has a melt flow index MFI (190° C./2.16 kg) of less than 2 g/10 min and more than 0.05 g/10 min, and in that the polypropylene-based plastic has a molecular weight (weight-average molecular weight) of 150,000-600,000 g/mol. This product can be used to particular advantage for the production of interior linings of motor vehicles and the like. In particular, it has superior elongation values at room temperature.

  • Patent number: 6962640
Abstract: Method for producing an embossing roller from silicone rubber for the continuous embossing of the surface of a thermoplastic film, with the embossing surface having a negative form of a surface structure to be embossed. An auxiliary roller is provided which is plastic, at least in the region of its circumferential surface. A laser beam is directed onto the circumferential surface and controlled for defining a real imaginary pattern in such a way that a surface structure of the pattern is created as a positive form on the surface. A layer of silicone rubber provided on the surface produces an embossing matrix which is pulled off the surface, turned inside out, and adhered to a surface of an embossing roller, with the negatively structured embossing surface facing outward. Thus, multiple embossing matrices can be created after a one-time structuring of the surface of an auxiliary roller, using a casting process.

  • Patent number: 6913728
Abstract: A method is provided for producing a molded part that is deep drawn from a thermoplastic foil. An outer surface of the thermoplastic foil is provided with a positive depth structure, under the effect of heat and pressure, by means of a stamping or embossing roller that has a negative depth structure. In at least one extent of a surface of the embossing roller, the negative depth structure of the roller is compressed in such surface regions thereof that effect a stretching of the foil during deep drawing. Subsequently, at least a portion of the foil is deep drawn.

  • Patent number: 6410638
Abstract: A light-stable, sinterable particulate thermoplastic molding composition is described. The thermoplastic compositions of the present invention consist essentially of: (i) a resinous blend of, (a) thermoplastic polyurethane, and (b) a member selected from at least one of a number of recited copolymers, e.g., a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer; (ii) a UV stabilizer; and (iii) an antioxidant. The thermoplastic polyurethane (a) is prepared from an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diisocyanate. The molding compositions are suitable for the preparation of textured sintered films, e.g., by the powder-slush process, having improved tactile properties that, for example, may be used in the fabrication of vehicle interior trim components and vehicle air bags.
