  • Patent number: 6349828
Abstract: Tamper-evident packaging for a product, e.g., a wound dressing or other sterile medical device. The packaging comprises a top sheet and a bottom sheet, the top sheet sealed to the bottom sheet about the product so as to seal the product between the top and bottom sheets, wherein the portion of the top and bottom sheets that are sealed to each other define sealing areas. The top sheet has at least one perforation in its sealing area so that when the sheets are separated from one another, the top sheet tears adjacent to the at least one perforation, indicating that the package has been at least partially opened.

  • Patent number: 6346653
Abstract: A non-stretching wound dressing is provided for use with a patient. The wound dressing includes a cover sheet having top and bottom sides, a thin film sheet formed on the bottom side of the cover sheet, the film sheet having first and second ends and an adhesive side, and a carrier sheet in adjacent contact with the adhesive side of the thin film sheet. The dressing also includes a first gripping tab attached to one end of the thin film sheet and disposed between the film sheet and the carrier sheet for separating the carrier sheet from the film sheet with the cover sheet remaining affixed to the film sheet. A second gripping tab is attached to the top side of the cover sheet and at one end of the cover sheet so that pulling on the second gripping tab releases the cover sheet from the film sheet with the film sheet remaining in place on the patient.

  • Patent number: 5605165
Abstract: Device and related method for determining the surface area of a wound. The device includes a transparent sheet having a series of perforations defining first and second sections of the sheet which allow the first and second sections to be separated from one another along the perforations. The transparent sheet is folded along the perforations so that the two sections overlap each other, and the sections are substantially free of adhesive material. The second section includes indicia thereon which allow a user to determine the surface area of a wound after the outline of the wound or opening is traced thereon. Upon use, the device is placed over the wound or opening, with the first section toward the wound or opening, and the outline of the wound or opening is traced onto the second section.
