  • Publication number: 20240092672
Abstract: A method of making a glass product includes: melting a batch of raw materials to form a glass melt in a melting tank; heating the batch and/or the glass melt using two or more electrodes, the electrodes including an electrode material and heating the batch and/or the glass melt includes operating the electrodes at a current frequency of at least 1,000 Hz and at most 5,000 Hz; withdrawing the glass melt from the melting tank; and forming the glass melt into the glass product.

  • Patent number: 6715456
Abstract: The invention relates to a variable valve train for reciprocating engines, in particular internal combustion engines comprising at least one cam of a camshaft that is rotatably mounted in the cylinder head. Said cam actuates a lift valve using a pulley assembly which can be displaceably guided in a sliding-block part along an adjusting inclined plane, together with a valve actuating element which is connected in series. The valve stroke can be adjusted in a variable manner in relation to the cam by the displacement of the sliding-block part and the pulley assembly is elastically pre-tensioned in relation to the cam. To achieve a sturdy valve train which exhibits uniform valve accelerations, a free travel (s) that allows an excitation movement of the pulley assembly is provided between the cam heel and the valve actuating element.

  • Patent number: 6571764
Abstract: In a direct injection internal combustion engine having per cylinder at least two intake valves 1 mounted side by side, at least one exhaust valve 2, a more or less coaxial ignition device 3, an injection valve 4, and a piston 5 with combustion chamber trough 6, the injection valve 4 being mounted on the intake side, improved mixture preparation and combustion characterized by low fuel consumption and low exhaust emissions are achieved by mounting, the center of the combustion chamber trough 6 in the piston 5 noticeably displaced relative to the axis of the cylinder in the direction of at least one exhaust valve 2, and are achieved in that the boundary wall 7 of the combustion chamber trough 6 extends in projection along the axis of the cylinder between the ignition device 3 and injection valve 4.

  • Patent number: 6378490
Abstract: The invention relates to an internal combustion engine with direct fuel injection comprising at least two adjacent inlet valves (1) per cylinder, a number of outlet valves (2), an essentially coaxial spark plug (3), an injection valve (4) and a piston (5,5′). The aim of the inventive engine is to provide an improved mixture preparation which is characterized by low fuel consumption and low exhaust emissions. To this end, the injection valve (4) is arranged between two of the adjacent inlet valves (1) and the section of the cylinder wall adjacent to said inlet valves (1). in addition, the piston (5,5′) has a longitudinally extended combustion chamber cavity (6), whereby the combustion chamber cavity (6) essentially extends along the front surface of the piston (5,5′) in the direction of the vertical projection of an injection stream (E) exiting from the injection valve (4). Said cavity also comprises a step (7) which essentially runs in a transversal direction.

  • Patent number: 5632244
Abstract: A spark-ignition reciprocating piston engine has at least one piston cylinder, at least one inlet port arranged at an end of the cylinder, an inlet valve located at the inlet port and that is movable to open and close the inlet port, and an inlet conduit leading to the inlet port for feeding a fluid from a fuel feed to an inlet area of the inlet port. The engine includes a partition arranged within the inlet conduit which divides the inlet conduit into at least two partial conduits over at least a portion of a length of the inlet conduit between the fuel feed and the inlet area. At least one of the partial conduits is connected to the fuel feed. The partial conduits converge directly in front of the inlet port to form the inlet area. The partition is located within a plane that extends essentially transversely to an axis of the cylinder at least in the inlet area.
