  • Patent number: 10517588
Abstract: A surgical fastener applying apparatus includes an anvil half-section and a cartridge-receiving half-section including an elongated channel member having a pair of opposed openings defined through sidewalls thereof. A disposable assembly including a single use loading unit and a single use firing unit is configured to be releasably supported within the cartridge-receiving half-section. The disposable assembly includes a stationary housing for supporting the firing unit which includes a distal extension for supporting the single use loading unit. The stationary housing includes a pair of flared tabs configured to be releasably received within the openings of the cartridge-receiving half-section to releasably engage the disposable assembly within the cartridge-receiving half-section.

  • Publication number: 20160262756
Abstract: A surgical fastener applying apparatus includes anvil (12?) and cartridge half-sections (14?)and a clamping lever. The cartridge half-section defines an elongated channel member having a distal portion for releasably receiving a single use loading unit (SULU) and a proximal portion for supporting a firing assembly. The firing assembly (20?) includes a stationary housing (26?) having a plurality of spaced-apart protrusions (27?) disposed along a length thereof, a firing lever (50), and a cam bar (46). The protrusions are releasably engagable within spaced-apart apertures (17?) defined within the channel member to releasably secure and align the firing assembly within the channel member. The clamping lever is operably associated with the half-sections and is movable from an undamped position to a clamped position to releasably secure an anvil portion of the anvil half-section in close approximation with the SULU.

  • Patent number: 9050163
Abstract: Provided herein is a two-part coupling assembly for re-connecting a first hollow body part to a second body part and an instrument and method for emplacement. The coupling assembly comprises coupling parts having securement elements that are actuated by separate deployment mechanisms of the instrument and attach to the first and second body parts. The first and second coupling parts having interconnecting elements that couple the two-part assembly together and re-connect the first and second body parts.
