  • Patent number: 10113782
Abstract: A novel process for activating available compressors in multiple compressor air conditioning systems, using an Optimum Stage-Up Process. This process is programmed into a controller as an algorithm, to provide a process for fast compressor start. This process shortens the time to initiate operation of compressors in a multi-compressor air conditioning system required to meet the demand call under any load condition, and hence shortens the time required for the actual sensed interior region air temperature to reach the interior region temperature set point. The Optimum Stage-up Algorithm estimates the number of compressor stages or steps that must be initiated, based on sensed or measured values, to meet the demand at any load condition. These measured values include the sensed temperature of the interior region being cooled, which is compared to the temperature set point of this interior region as well as measured mixed air temperature and supply air temperature.

  • Patent number: 9726387
Abstract: A stepped approach to cooling capacity control and the HGRH status logic to achieve the requisite control of humidity and temperature provided to an interior area or building space receiving conditioned air. The system includes at least two independent circuits, each circuit having at least one compressor. At least one of the independent circuits includes hot gas reheat hardware thereby providing HGRH capability. The logic provides an efficient method for maintaining both humidity and temperature in the interior area comfortable for occupants within limits as determined by psychrometrics. The system and method match the sensible capacity and latent capacity of the system match to the sensible and latent loads of the conditioned space.

  • Publication number: 20050103038
Abstract: A heat rejection apparatus includes an object conducting heat to be rejected, with an absorptive material on the outside of the object. A water system deposits water on the absorptive material to wet the material to absorb heat from the object by water evaporation. A collector below the object directs excess water to a drain. An air delivery system directs air over the absorptive material on the object. The water system supplies enough water to keep the absorptive material wet, even with the evaporative losses of water, and carry dissolved solids to the collector.
