Patent number: 9729759Abstract: A print job is analyzed to determine what page locations can use optional colors and different image quality increase values of different optional colors at the page locations are calculated. Only one of the optional colors is selected, based on which optional color produces the highest print job image quality increase for all of the page locations of the print job. Each individual page of the print job is evaluated to determine if use of the selected optional color increases image quality of the individual page to identify page exceptions. Instructions to mount a selected replaceable printing module corresponding to the selected optional color are displayed, and the print job is printed using the selected replaceable printing module.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2016Date of Patent: August 8, 2017Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: David C. Robinson, Raju Seetharam, Steven E. Haehn

Patent number: 9706085Abstract: A system and method for automatic selection of at least one spot color to be processed by a digital image press includes identifying process colorants to determine principal and extended gamuts thereof. Spot color recipes of the principal and extended gamuts are retrieved from a spot color library, along with a set of attributes corresponding to use of colorants by the digital image press. For each spot color recipe, a combined attribute score is calculated relating to the principal gamut and the extended gamut, spot color recipe of the extended gamut or principal gamut is then identified for use based upon which has the higher combined attribute score. The spot color library is then updated in accordance with the identified recipe for production of each spot color. Print jobs are then output with the appropriate spot color recipe automatically selected.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2016Date of Patent: July 11, 2017Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Guo-Yau Lin, James Michael Sanchez, Michael R. Patent number: 9594531Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating processing of at least one value of attribute(s) on a device such as an imaging device or a printing device. A method includes providing a GUI including graphical format object(s) corresponding to a number of attributes on a display device associated with the device. The method further includes allowing a user to manipulate the graphical format object(s) by dragging the graphical format object(s) of the GUI. The method also includes creating a graphical representation for the attributes based on the manipulation of the graphical format objects by the user. The method also includes defining one or more values of the attributes based on the graphical representation. Further, the method includes saving the graphical representation and the values of the attributes. One or more operations can be executed on the device based on the saved graphical representation and the values of the attributes.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2014Date of Patent: March 14, 2017Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: David C Robinson, Nagarajan Narasimhan, Raju Seetharam

Patent number: 9232084Abstract: Methods and devices receive a print job, evaluate the print job to identify job parameter settings and associated sources of the job parameter settings, transmit the job parameter settings and the associated sources to a database, and transmit the print job to a marking device to cause the marking device to print the print job. These methods and devices also provide access to the database to view the job parameter settings and the associated sources, and/or change the job parameter settings. The access to the database is provided before and/or after the marking device prints the print job. When evaluating the print job, these methods and devices identify “potential” and “final” job parameter settings and associated sources. The final settings and sources are used to perform marking and finishing operations, while the potential setting and sources comprise a pre-printing, job preparation history in the database.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2014Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Raju Seetharam, David C. Robinson, Steven Haehn

Publication number: 20150244882Abstract: Methods and devices include a printing device automatically receiving capabilities of all the document finishing devices currently operatively connected to the printing device. These capabilities include attribute/value pairs, which are document attributes and associated document attribute values made available by the document finishing devices. These methods and devices also automatically generate sets of fixed attribute/value pairs, based on the capabilities of the document finishing devices. Then, such methods and devices automatically display choices of the sets of fixed attribute/value pairs, along with individual attribute/value pairs, on a graphic user interface of the printing device. In response, these methods and devices receive user selections from the choices through the graphic user interface. These methods and devices automatically execute the user choices to perform printing of documents and finishing operations on the documents (using the printing device and the document finishing devices).Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2014Publication date: August 27, 2015Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: David C. Robinson, Raju Seetharam, Nagarajan Narasimhan

Patent number: 8064083Abstract: A method and graphical user interface for selecting pad printing functions for an image output device. The user interface is provided to a user and displays a pad printing dialog box that enables selection of pad printing output. Selectable pad printing options are displayed, which include the number of sheets per pad and the total number of pads to be output. When the user selection of pad printing and pad printing options are received, the total quantity of sheets to be output based on selected pad printing options and organizing the sheets for pad printing output from the image output device are automatically determined. Availability of pad printing is determined based on finishing options selected.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2007Date of Patent: November 22, 2011Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Thomas J. Perry, James J. Dombrowski, Robert I. Jacobs, Albert L. O'Neil, III, Mustapha Guesmia, Raju Seetharam

Patent number: 7812976Abstract: A method for utilizing a graphical user interface for concurrent programming of multiple feature operations to a single production job in a controller for a production system includes presenting options on the user interface for the selection of job properties or queue properties, with queue properties defined as default values for the virtual device to which the job will be submitted and job properties defined as job feature selection options. The job feature selection options may be hidden or displayed to enable the selection of valid job feature combinations only. Toggle controls are utilized for job feature options whose operation is limited by previously selected job feature options. The application of any valid combination of selected job feature options on the completed production job is illustrated on a dynamic graphic.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2005Date of Patent: October 12, 2010Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Thomas J. Perry, Natasha A. Gitany-Alonso, Robert I. Jacobs, Albert L. O'Neil, III, Raju Seetharam
