  • Patent number: 11488775
Abstract: Systems and methods for forming insulation on magnet wire are provided. An extruder that includes one or more rotating screws may receive a thermoset polymeric material and process the thermoset polymeric material to increase its pressure and temperature. An extrusion crosshead assembly in fluid communication with the extruder may receive the thermoset polymeric material and press extrude the thermoset polymeric material as insulation onto a magnet wire. A curing device may then cure the extruded insulation material.

    Filed: July 13, 2018
Date of Patent: November 1, 2022
Assignee: ESSEX FURUKAWA MAGNET WIRE USA LLC
Inventors: Rakshit Amba, Matthew Leach, M. Mazhar Said
  • Patent number: 11488774
Abstract: Systems and methods for forming insulation on magnet wire are provided. An extruder that includes one or more rotating screws may receive a plurality of ingredients for a polymeric insulation material and process the plurality of ingredients to facilitate polymerization of the polymeric insulation material within the extruder. An application assembly in fluid communication with the extruder may apply the polymeric insulation material onto a wire. A curing device may then cure the polymeric insulation material.

  • Publication number: 20190291402
Abstract: In certain applications it can be desirable to combine a first material having a first set of properties, for example mechanical and physical properties, with a second material having a second set of properties that are different than the first set properties. The combination of the first material and the second material can result in a third material having a third set of properties that include at least some of the first set of properties and at least some of the second set of properties. Composite materials, machines configured to produce composite materials, and methods of manufacturing composite materials are described in the present disclosure.

  • Publication number: 20190118514
Abstract: A laminate and an article of manufacture include a first layer including a polymeric material and a second layer including a glass sheet thermoformed to the first layer. The laminate may include at least one third layer including a polymeric material, the at least one third layer thermoformed to the second layer. The polymeric material in the first layer or the at least one third layer may include a polycarbonate. The laminate and/or article of manufacture may further include at least one functional layer. The at least one functional layer may include an image forming layer, a conductive layer or a touch sensing layer. An electronic device, a sound or moisture barrier, or a medical tray may incorporate the laminate/article of manufacture. Methods for forming the laminate and article of manufacture are also described.

  • Publication number: 20180009172
Abstract: Three-dimensional effect or structure with a strong bond may be achieved on any surface such as on wood, stone, paper, ceramic, and rubber/polymer, sponge/foam, cloth, and glass, cement, building structures or metals. Before application of tile 3D structure, the surface is first prepared with at least on a layer that can bind a subsequent layer. This tie (compatible) layer material may comprise of the adhesive layer and another tie (compatible) layer such as thermoplastic film or coating. 3D printing filament materials with a different set of properties are combined using unique methods, apparatus to produce new structures, effects or parts with a unique combination of properties. Continuous application of tie layer and 3D printing for unique small or large objects can be achieved.
