  • Patent number: 7382315
Abstract: A radio system can be configured as a beyond line-of-sight system and includes a number of antennas, a number of phase adjusters and a transmitter/receiver unit. Each of the phase adjusters can be associated with a respective antenna of the antennas. The antennas can be disposed on separate platforms. The transmitter/receiver unit communicates with the phase adjusters. The communicating allows the beyond-line-of-sight system to use the antennas as a larger virtual antenna.

  • Patent number: 4496953
Abstract: An antenna for operating over a broadband of frequencies includes an operating radiating elements for radiating radio frequency energy at a selected band of frequencies and a lower radiating element for providing a counter poise to the upper radiating element. An antenna coupler transforms the load impedance of the upper radiating elements and the lower radiating element to a nominal impedance, such as 50 ohms. The coupler element also electronically couples the lower radiating element to the upper radiating element.
