  • Patent number: 5395689
Abstract: A photographic support material with a coating on each side. At least one of the coatings comprises a mixture of polyolefins and optional agents that have a positive effect on the utilization of the support material. A white pigment is an example. The polyolefin mixture comprising the coating contains at least one copolymer of an .alpha.-olefin with an .alpha., .beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid. At least 5% and preferably 20% to 80% by weight of the mixture is copolymer.

  • Patent number: 5332623
Abstract: A photographic support material includes a base paper and at least one polyolefin layer arranged on the base paper and containing titanium dioxide, and a methyl substituted chinacridone red pigment in the polyolefin which is a chinolino (2,3-b) acridine-7,14-dione-5,12-dihydro-3,10-dimethyl.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 18, 1993
Date of Patent: July 26, 1994

  • Patent number: 5252658
Abstract: A premixture composition for the production of water-resistant photographic support material coated with polyolefin resin for light-sensitive materials of polyolefin resin and light-reflecting white pigment comprises a polyolefin resin formed as a copolymer of ethylene and an .alpha.-olefin. A light-reflecting white pigment is intimately mixed with the said polyolefin resin. Hydrocarbon side chains derived of an .alpha.-olefin in the copolymer comprise C.sub.1 to C.sub.16 carbon atoms. The contents of the copolymer of ethylene and .alpha.-olefin in the premixture composition amounts to from about 10 weight-percent to 100 weight-percent of the complete premixture composition. The light-reflecting white pigment is titanium dioxide. The titanium dioxide employed in the mixture has been subjected to a chemical after-treatment.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 22, 1989
Date of Patent: October 12, 1993
Assignee: Felix Schoeller jr GmbH & Co. KG
Inventors: Ralf-Burkhard Dethlefs, Bernd Scholz, Wolfram Wysk
  • Patent number: 5114990
Abstract: There is described a process for the production of pigment/plastic premixes characterized by homogeneous distribution of pigment in a polymer matrix. The invention is based on the polymerization of olefins carried out by means of a process using Ziegler catalyst. Significantly the polymerization occurs on the surface of the pigment particles, after the prior activation of the pigment particles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 4, 1990
Date of Patent: May 19, 1992
Assignee: Felix Schoeller Jr. GmbH KG
    Inventor: Ralf-Burkhard Dethlefs

  • Patent number: 4935298
Abstract: A water-resistant support material for light-sensitive materials is disclosed, which is coated on one side or two sides with a polyolefin resin. At least the polyolefin resin of the front-side coating is a copolymer of ethylene and a non-ethylene .alpha.-olefin. This copolymer allows to add to the coating mass a high content in light-reflecting white pigment.
