  • Patent number: 6335385
Abstract: The invention provides a curable system and method of making a dental prosthesis. The method of making a dental prosthesis includes providing a one component denture base resin composition which is polymerizable by microwave energy. The one component denture base resin composition is injected into a mold enclosed by a flask having a body wall which is substantially transparent to the microwave energy. The curable system includes microwave energy sensitive initiators and polymerizables (meth)acrylate Monomers having molecular weights preferably between 400 and 20,000. • Patent number: 5562733
Abstract: A bonding dental ceramic material and method of use thereof is provided. The bonding dental ceramic material includes at least one network former and between about 8 and 17 percent by weight B.sub.2 O.sub.3. The bonding dental ceramic material does not contain more than 5% by weight of opacifier and/or pigment, and is adapted to bond to titanium or titanium alloy with a bond strength of at least 20 MPa. Preferably the bonding dental ceramic material has a melting point less than 800.degree. C. and includes a fluxing agent. This bonding dental ceramic material is used to make dental crowns and bridges. The bonding dental ceramic material is applied to titanium or titanium alloy and fired at less than 800.degree. C. Then an opaque dental ceramic material including at least one network former and more than 5% by weight of opacifier and/or pigment but less than 5% by weight B.sub.2 O.sub.3 is applied to the bonding dental ceramic material and fired at less than 800.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5248706
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing a dental material filler in the form of a copolycondensate. An alkoxy silane having a formula of Si(OR.sup.3).sub.4 and a titanium compound are dissolved in a water-miscible solvent. Optionally, additional alkoxysilanes having the formulas R.sup.1 --Si(OR.sup.3).sub.3 and R.sup.2.sub.2 Si(OR.sup.3).sub.2 are also dissolved in the solvent. The reactants are hydrolyzed and condensed to form a reaction mixture from which a heterosiloxane is formed. The heterosiloxane is separated, optionally washed, dried and tempered. The heterosiloxane may then be ground to a desired size and/or formed into various dental materials, such as fillings, inlays, veneers, seals, crowns, bridges, dentures, artificial teeth and adhesives for dental materials. Alternatively, the reaction may take place without the use of a water miscible solvent, such that the precondensing takes place in water.
