  • Publication number: 20050121157
Abstract: A method for the fabrication of a fibrous web including the steps of loading fibers with a precipitant, thereby defining treated fibers. Creating at least a portion of the precipitant as crystalline precipitant particles. Supplying the treated fibers as a pumpable fiber stock suspension to a sheet forming process that forms the fibrous web. And, controlling filler distribution across a web cross section of the fibrous web by way of a vacuum supply in the sheet forming process.

  • Patent number: 5578125
Abstract: The invention concerns a coating system for running webs of cardboard or paper which are carried, or backed, by at least two moving surfaces, in which system the coating substance is applied first on at least one moving surface carrying the web and thereafter transferred, in a press gap formed by the moving surfaces, on the web on one or both sides. The invention is characterized by the following features: the moving surfaces are formed by two continuous belts; the belts proceed jointly with the web contained in between successively through a first press gap and through a second press gap, with each press gap being formed by two rolls that are movable relative to each other; the rotatable roll body of each of the rolls of the second press gap is backed against flexure by means of a stationary element; the diameter of the rolls of the second press gap amounts to maximally one-half, preferably less than one-third, of the diameter of the rolls of the first press gap.

  • Patent number: 5454870
Abstract: A coating device having an applicator roll which forms an application slot with the backup roll which conducts the web of material. Adjoining the applicator slot is a pressure space which is formed at the outlet side of the application slot and between the applicator roll and the backup roll. A flexible guide wall having a shape which approximates or is adapted to the surface of the backup roll and/or can be adapted thereto by the Coanda effect itself, which wall forms a narrow slot along the web of material downstream from the pressure space. The wall is at such a slight distance away from the web that the formation of drips or streaks in the applied coating by the centrifugal force is excluded. The dosaging place for the final dosaging is formed by a dosaging doctor.

  • Patent number: 5417762
Abstract: A blade mounting apparatus for a blade in a coater secures essentially the entire blade length. The coater provides a cross profile adjustment of a suspension flow. The blade mounting apparatus includes an adjustable thrust element engaging the blade along a line-shaped thrust contact area extending in a direction parallel to the longitudinal edge of the blade. The position of the contact area of the adjustable thrust element is variably adjustable, with local limitation, for providing cross profile adjustment.

  • Patent number: 5284516
Abstract: A doctoring apparatus includes a doctor blade defining a width and thickness. A support beam supports the doctor blade. A blade mounting includes at least one clamping part for clamping the doctor blade. The clamping part provides flexible mounting of the doctor blade in a transverse direction to the doctor blade and generally rigid mounting of the doctor blade in a direction corresponding to the doctor blade width.

  • Patent number: 4856454
Abstract: A rough dosing point with applicator roll 2 is provided which relative to the opposed roll 1 forms a rough dosing gap 6. Located some distance from the rough dosing device is a finish dosing device which comprises a blade element 5 and an opposed roll 4. The web runs through a reversing roll 9 between the rough dosing gap 6 and the point of finish dosing, the distances of the web departure point from the opposed roll 1, of the rough dosing gap 6, and the run-on point of the web on the opposed roll 4 of the finish dosing point given through the blade element 5 being relatively short. The reversing roll having a maximum diameter of 300 mm, and the arcuate course of the web curving at said reversing roll at an angle of reversal between 25.degree. and 60.degree..

  • Patent number: 4821429
Abstract: Taught is an air guide box for stabilizing the run of a web, for instance a paper web, specifically for the drying section of a paper machine. The air guide box is connected to a blowing air supply and extends transverse to the running direction of the paper web. The paper web proceeds, preferably together with a backing belt, from one drying cylinder to another drying cylinder. A first wall of the air guide box, viewed in cross section, extends along the paper web or the backing belt forming a first gap therewith. A second wall extends along the cylinder surface of the first drying cylinder. Provided in the first wall is an opening which extends across the length of the air guide box and serves to remove the air from the first gap into the interior of the air guide box. Said opening is connected with an intake line of the blowing air supply.
