  • Publication number: 20050263965
Abstract: A planetary wheel system apparatus having swiveling outer satellite wheels mounted about the circumference of a central primary wheel provides superior obstacle climbing ability and maneuverability. The planetary wheel system helps eliminate abrupt jarring or stopping when wheeled conveyances, such as wheeled-chairs, carts, or the like, encounter obstacles to the forward motion of their wheels. Thus, the apparatus reduces the risk of injury and the breaking or jarring of any occupant or contents of the wheeled conveyance. The apparatus further provides increased access and mobility by enabling the traversal of obstacles which would otherwise block forward motion by permitting a wheeled conveyance to maneuver over obstacles more stably, smoothly, and with less effort in both frontal impacts and angular impacts with obstacles.

  • Publication number: 20050263966
Abstract: A tandem axle wheel replacement apparatus having swiveling wheels helps eliminate abrupt jarring or stopping when wheeled conveyances, such as walkers, wheeled-chairs, carts, or the like, encounter obstacles to the forward motion of their wheels.

  • Publication number: 20050169560
Abstract: A limited movement roller device and related method for moving a load includes a frame with a load bearing surface. A plurality of rollers are moveable through the frame and connected with respect to each other. A stop block is positioned within a void between two rollers of the plurality of rollers so as to obstruct movement of the plurality of rollers through the frame. Accordingly, a load may be maneuvered by reaching a braking point of the roller device and then rotating the load and the roller device 180° relative to each other prior to moving the load again to the braking point. This process may then be repeated to move the load without risk of losing control of the load, such as down an incline.

  • Publication number: 20050167209
Abstract: A roller system for moving a load a predetermined distance includes a chock frame having a pair of spaced chocks connected between a pair of rigid siderails and a freely moveable roller unit. The roller unit includes a plurality of rollers and is positioned between the siderails and freely moveable between the pair of spaced chocks. The load may then be moved in inchmeal fashion by slowly advancing the roller unit while shuffling the chock frame on the ground at a similar pace.

  • Publication number: 20050109134
Abstract: The subject invention is directed to methods, processes and decisions on test outcomes for testing for faulty, therefor dangerous, performance of zero speed indicators that are used to control the opening of barriers guarding moving machine components. The indicators may be tested by removing them from the components during operation without shutting down production or in certain situations the indicators may be tested during the run down phase of the components caused by machine stop initiations. The tests allow to anticipate and hence prevent hazardous opening of barriers due to a faulty zero speed indication. Additionally, the invention is directed to testing of the insertion of motion interference devices in conjunction with zero speed indicators, both of which must perform correctly in order to permit the unlocking and opening of the protective barrier. There are included various exemplary devices for effecting the testing function.
