  • Patent number: 8476173
Abstract: Laminate material having a first liquid-permeable material layer and discretely-arranged material pieces of a second liquid-permeable material, wherein the material layer and the discrete material pieces are joined internally. The laminate material also has a second liquid-permeable material layer joined to the first liquid-permeable material layer and the discretely-arranged material pieces.

    Assignee: SCA Hygiene Products AB
    Inventors: Ralph Dovertie, Roy Hansson
  • Patent number: 8168254
Abstract: A method for synchronized positioning of a web for manufacturing products. The method includes feeding the web into a production apparatus at a first speed; processing in the production apparatus, with the web being fed forward at a second speed; and detection of each synchronization mark for positioning the respective motif in a predetermined position on each product. The method includes the following steps: generation of a reading of the actual value of a virtual master function upon the detection, which includes a cyclic clock where the number of cycles per product includes an integer; comparison between the actual value and the expected value of the virtual master function; and stretching of the web in response to any deviation between the actual value and the expected value, with the aim of minimizing the deviation.

  • Patent number: 8157776
Abstract: A method for detection of a synchronizing mark (6) being used in synchronized positioning of at least one essentially continuous material web (2), for manufacturing products (20) that have printed motifs (5; 5?) or similar processed elements, which material web (2) is intended to be divided into a nominal division length (LN) and has synchronizing marks (6) with a periodicity (LS), which method includes: detection of the respective synchronizing mark (6) for positioning the respective motif (5; 5?) in a predetermined position on the respective product (20), which detection is carried out along a predetermined in the machine direction longitudinal section (24) of the material web (2), and detection of the synchronizing mark (6) by distinguishing its color or color combination from colors or color combinations in the rest of said section (24). An arrangement for such detection, and an absorbent product.

  • Patent number: 8013207
Abstract: A method and a device of forming a composite web containing at least one layer of superabsorbent particulate material and at least one layer of fibrous material, the web being intended for use as an absorbent structure in absorbent articles. The layers of fibrous material and at least one layer of particulate material are deposited in consecutive steps on a moving foraminous support (12), wherein the airborn stream of particulate material when entering an applicator chamber (15) is allowed to expand and is forced to change flow direction at an angle between about 90 and about 125°, preferably between 100 and 120°, with respect to the first flow direction, resulting in a considerable reduction of speed of the stream of particulate material as it exits the outlet opening (19) of the applicator chamber (15).

  • Publication number: 20080102105
Abstract: A method for applying lotion to a surface of an absorbent article. The method includes the steps of: placing the surface of the absorbent article in the proximity of a spraying apparatus having a spray head with an orifice; pushing the lotion through the spray head orifice; and propelling the lotion to the surface as a continuous fiberised string. The invention also pertains to an absorbent article having a surface with an application of lotion.
