  • Patent number: 9621047
Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a power supply unit may include one or more stages including an output stage configured to generate a direct-current output voltage at an output of the power supply, an OR-ing metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) coupled between the output stage and the output, and a controller. The controller may be configured to measure a signal indicative of a voltage associated with the OR-ing MOSFET and determine an estimated output current of the power supply based on the signal.

  • Patent number: 7249877
Abstract: A reflector lamp assembly may be formed with a reflector housing having a reflector with a prescribed reflective surface; the reflector formed with a wall defining a through passage. A lamp bulb assembly having an axially extending stem supports a head extending transverse to the axis, the head having a first generally linearly extending region, a first set of LEDs mounted generally in a row along the region oriented to face in one plane towards a reflector. Electrical connections for the LEDs extend through the head, and stem to the exterior of the assembly for electrical connection. A base extends in the through passage and is mechanically mounted to the optical housing with the LED assembly oriented to face the reflective surface.

  • Patent number: 7166955
Abstract: An LED light source (10) has a housing (12) with a base (14) and a hollow core (16) projecting from the base (14), the core (16) being substantially conical. A first printed circuit board (18) is fitted to the base (14). A second printed circuit board (20) is fitted to the narrow end (22) of the core (16), the second printed circuit board (20) having at least one LED (24) operatively fixed thereto. A plurality of electrical conductors 26 is provided having proximal ends (28) attached to and extending from the second printed circuit board (20) and distal ends (30) attached to and projecting through the first printed circuit board (18). A cap (32) is fitted over the second printed circuit board (20) and a heat sink (34) is attached to the base (14) and in contact with the distal ends (30) of the electrical conductors (26). The housing (12) is provided with flanges for engaging a suitable opening in the rear of a reflector.

  • Patent number: 7090386
Abstract: A high-density LED array (10) capable of presenting a density of X LEDs/unit area has a first printed circuit board (12) having X/2 LEDs/area and X/2 apertures arrayed therewith. A second printed circuit board (22) is spaced from the first printed circuit board (12) and has X/2 LEDs 28/unit area. The LEDs (28) on the second printed circuit board are aligned with the apertures (20) in the first printed circuit board. Each of the LEDs (28) on the second printed circuit board (22) has an optical fiber (30) associated therewith and each of the light guides (30) extends through one of the apterures (20). Each of the mounted LEDs on the first printed circuit board can have an optical fiber associated therewith and the light guides can be bundled to direct light to a remote source.

  • Patent number: 5702179
Abstract: A discharge lamp, such as a neon lamp or a subminiature fluorescent lamp, includes an elongated tubular lamp envelope containing a fill material for supporting a light-emitting discharge and electrodes mounted at opposite ends of the lamp envelope. A light-transmissive conductive coating on the lamp envelope substantially attenuates emission of RF energy. A conductor in electrical contact with the conductive coating couples the conductive coating to a reference potential, such as ground. The conductor may be a metal or conductive silicone strip in electrical contact with the conductive coating along the length of the lamp envelope. The discharge lamp may be connected to a ballast circuit by coaxial cables. The outer conductor of each coaxial cable is connected to the conductive coating to form a continuous RF shield. The conductive coating and/or the metal strip may be used for heating of the discharge lamp.
