  • Patent number: 5362030
Abstract: The present invention relates to a single post module which provides all the connections needed to make a fence. This module can be assembled, by unskilled persons, with other like modules to form fence posts by end-to-end assembly and connection. Each module in a post has a connector to which hollow fence rails or panel sleeves may be attached. Fence panels thus formed have a post at each end. Each module in every post has projecting hinge fins which, when overlapped with the fins of modules in similar posts, permits joining of up to four posts and their fence panels by making a pin connection at the common axis through the holes in the hinge fins at that location. This permits construction of a fence which can branch into as many as three new fences at any location.

  • Patent number: 4399109
Abstract: A method is provided for inhibiting the formation of silica scale on flash-pot surfaces during the multi-stage flashing of sulfuric acid pressure-leach slurry obtained following the continuous autoclave leaching of nickel lateritic ore at elevated temperature and pressure during which silica is dissolved, wherein the leach slurry is subjected to a high-temperature flash stage such that the slurry at the flash temperature is supersaturated in soluble silica, and wherein the slurry is thereafter subjected to at least one additional flash at an intermediate-temperature flash stage at which silica precipitates and tends to form a scale accompanied by a decrease in said supersaturation.

  • Patent number: 4105426
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a powder of discrete, macroporous, microspheroids, each having an average diameter in the range of 2 to 50 microns and each composed of a plurality of large colloidal particles joined and cemented together at their points of contact by 1 to 10% by weight of non-porous, amorphous silica. These microspheroids have a high degree of mechanical stability and a surface area between about 80 and 110% of that of the large colloidal particles. Also disclosed is a process for the manufacture of this powder.

  • Patent number: 4060488
Abstract: An ultrafiltration device which includes a porous support, one surface of which is coated with a membrane comprising at least two sizes of particles, one size being capable of passing through the pores and another size capable of passing into but not through the pores.

  • Patent number: 4010242
Abstract: Oxide microspheres having a diameter in the 0.5 to 20 micron range are produced by forming a mixture of urea or melamine and formaldehyde in an aqueous sol containing colloidal oxide particles. Copolymerization of the organic constituents produces coacervation of the organic material into microparticles containing the inorganic material. The organic constituent can be burned out to form a powder of uniform-sized porous microparticles consisting of an interconnected array of inorganic colloidal particles separated by uniform-sized pores.

  • Patent number: 3969266
Abstract: Aqueous silica sols having a pH from 8 to 11 containing 1 to 40% by weight of colloidal silica and soluble salts can be purified and concentrated by filtering the soluble salt from the sol using a microporous membrane filter while maintaining the salt concentration within a range determined by the concentration of silica in the sol. In one embodiment, colloidal silica particles are grown to a larger size by starting with a sol of nuclei, and adding sodium silicate solution and acid.
