Abstract: Containerized goods are packaged for transit using a partial or fully circumferential wrapper about which a tensioned-strap is secured, to form an integrated structural package that facilities rapid loading of a machine magazine or picking platform such as a shelf with pre-oriented articles as well as shipping the units palletized in several tiers for distribution and display. The wrapper may be of sheet wood-fibre origin or other materials, the open wrapper ends permitting clear display of the goods labels. D-cuts into the wrapper provide displaceable tabs, for locating and/or separating the adjoining containers, and further integrating the wrapper with its contents, when strapped to form transit packages, able to withstand the rigors of palletized transit.

Abstract: A composite integrated package for withstanding the loads encountered in vigorous transportation comprising a one-sheet blank, which when folded, forms double-walled spacers in the center of the package, calls and base for the package. Substantially identical articles are inserted in compartments formed between the double-walled spacers and the vertical walls, and the base supporting the articles in the compartments. At least one tensioned inelastic binding member contacts and applies a compressive force in a horizontal plane to the side walls and the double-wall center spacers of the package and further compressing the articles to form a stable, unitary, and load-bearing structural unit.

Abstract: A composite unitary package for transporting goods in containers includes a wrapper assembly having two side portions extending vertically from a bottom portion and around the outside of a plurality of the containers. Spacers partially or fully extend between certain of the containers, and one or more inelastic tensioned straps extends around the side portions of the wrapper assembly, and compressively binds the side wrapper assembly portions, the spacers and the containers together such that the frictional forces on the combination of wrapper assembly, spacers and containers form a stable, load-bearing package that withstands transportation forces.

Abstract: An easily opened package is provided, formed of a substantially rigid, foldable sheet, such as cardboard, and having an opening on one side of the sheet. A plastic film is sealed about the opening and is stretchable to form a pouch for receiving an item to be stored in the package. To form the package, the plastic film is heated and stretched about the item and the cardboard sheet is folded over and sealed together. Prior to forming the package, a pair of opposing cuts are formed in the edges of the film, the cuts facilitating tearing of the film when it is desired to open the package. To further facilitate opening, indicia can be placed on the edges of the cardboard sheet to indicate the point at which tearing is easiest, or notches can be cut in one side of the sheet.
