  • Patent number: 7808579
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a device including a first material associated with a controllable refractive index, a second material associated with a first refractive index, and a third material disposed between the first material and the second material, the third material being substantially transparent to a plurality of visible light wavelengths and being associated with a second refractive index greater than the first refractive index. Devices according to some embodiments may be employed as a display in a laptop computer, a desktop computer, a personal digital assistant, a minicomputer, a projection television, a front projector, etc.

  • Publication number: 20100039410
Abstract: A distributed architecture for driving various electro-optic reflective display devices (620) is disclosed. Analog processors (6-15) are positioned in close proximity to the electro-optic reflective segments (650) being driven while digital processing functions are performed at a remote location. The analog and digital processors communicate via a bus (640). Various bus types and architectures for coupling the analog and digital processors are disclosed. The distributed architecture is particularly useful in electrochromic displays where the inherent properties of the display require analog sensing of each segment.

  • Patent number: 7629952
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing power consumption in graphical displays is described. A display may includes decision logic to determine if a first pixel of the display will undergo a state transition, and if so, charge sharing switch logic switches the first pixel to a common bus for charge sharing with other pixels connected to the common bus. The pixels that are connected to the common bus share the voltage of the common bus. The pixels are then disconnected from the common bus and connected to the pixel driver. Other embodiments may be described.

  • Publication number: 20080079739
Abstract: Embodiments of a graphics processor and method for controlling a display panel in self-refresh and low-response time modes are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed. In some embodiments, a self-refresh (SR) control signal is generated for a display controller when an image represented by the frames becomes static instructing the display controller to enter SR mode. A lower-response-time (LRT) control signal is generated for the display controller when the image becomes active instructing the display controller to enter an LRT mode.
