  • Patent number: 6099199
Abstract: The conical clamping set (100) serves, for example, to connect a shaft (1) with a hub (3) and is arranged in the radial clearance (5) between the cylindrical outer-circumference surface (2) of the shaft (1) and the cylindrical inner-circumference surface (4) of the hub (3). It includes inner conical rings (11, 12) with a cylindrical inner-circumference surface and a conical outer-circumference surface (8', 8"), as well as a thin-walled external conical ring (10, 18', 18") with conical, inner-circumference surfaces (7', 7") fitting onto the outer-circumference surfaces (8', 8") of the inner conical ring (11, 2) and a cylindrical outer-circumference surface (6) intended for application on the inner-circumference surface (4) of the hub (3). Axial clamping screws (19) are distributed over the circumference; the conical rings (11, 12) can be axially pulled against each other by tightening the clamping screws.

  • Patent number: 5775831
Abstract: The component assembly (100) serves in a free from play connection of two components (1, 2) by a radially-expandable, conical clamping system (10) arranged in aligned bores (5, 6) of the first component (1) and the second component (2). The clamping arrangement (100) is intended to be clamped and released if inserted into a blind bore (5) of the first component (1). For this purpose, the outer sleeve (14) of the conical clamping system (10) has at one end a radial circumferential projection (17) that rests axially against the outside of the second component (2), while the other end of the outer sleeve (14) is cylindrical throughout and has a diameter that corresponds to the diameter of the bore configured as a blind bore (5) in the first component (1), and a coaxial threaded bore (7) is provided in the bottom (8) of the bore (5), the threaded bore having a smaller diameter than a through bore (12) that is present as a through bore (12) in the conical clamping system (10) and receives the clamping bolt (22).

  • Patent number: 5269622
Abstract: A taper clamping unit includes a tightening assembly having first and second taper rings, one of which is mounted on a cylindrical bushing. The cylindrical bushing has an end flange which extends opposite projecting portions of a plurality of screws which are used to connect, tighten, and untighten the first and second taper rings to each other. When the screws are loosened, the projections bear against the end flange such that the first and second taper rings are loosened from each other and when the screws are tightened, the projections bear against the first taper ring thereby tightening the first and second taper rings with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 4471846
Abstract: The clamping arrangement has a pair of elements which are provided with mating conical surfaces in the self locking range. The elements can be axially displaced relative to each other by axial clamping screws for clamping purposes. Auxiliary rings are provided between the elements and have through bores for the clamping screws. With the clamping screws removed, the auxiliary rings can be turned to align a tapped bore in one ring and an abutment surface in the other ring with a clamping screw so that this screw can be used for separating the clamped elements from each other.

  • Patent number: 4465395
Abstract: A polygonal connection for joining a hub with a shaft includes a bore in the hub and a joining portion on the shaft. In one embodiment both the bore and joining portion have mating, non-circular polygonal cross sections. In that embodiment, radially expandable fasteners are located in the vicinities of corners of the polygonal cross section of the joining portion of the shaft. In another embodiment, the bore in the hub and the joining portion of the shaft have circular cross sections, and at least one radially expandable fastener is located on the circumference of the joining portion of the shaft. In both embodiments, each fastener runs parallel to the axis of the shaft, and the longitudinal axis of each fastener is disposed within the perimeter or circumference of the joining portion of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4396310
Abstract: The invention relates to a clamping arrangement to connect a hub with an inner structural part, in particular a shaft, including at least one outer taper ring having an inner conical surface tapered at a self-returning angle. The tapered ring cooperating with a tapered outer circumferential surface of a tub. Axially acting lock bolts, tension the tapered ring against the hub locking the assembly to the shaft. Wedge segments, distributed circumferentially and arranged axially between the taper ring and a counter-support on the hub, are provided. The wedges are displaced radially by means of radial release bolts and pressure the tapered ring axially off the conical surface of one hub releasing the same from the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4348132
Abstract: A clamping connection clampingly joins an external structural part, such as a gear, with a shaft. The connection includes a conical clamping set having a plurality of interengaging conical rings for generating radial clamping forces. The connection includes a longitudinally slit element which directly engages the shaft and a key which enters the longitudinal slit of such element in a region of the element which is at or near the conical clamping set. The key and the longitudinal slit are so dimensioned that the flanks of the longitudinal slit abut the key prior to complete tightening of the clamping set.

  • Patent number: 4279530
Abstract: A flanged connection for shafts or tubes includes abutting flanges at adjoining ends of the shafts or tubes and also includes aligned bores in the flanges. Fasteners extend through the bores in directions parallel to the axes of the shafts or tubes. The fasteners are radially expandable into clamped conditions in which they abut and exert radial pressure against the bores in the flanges. This eliminates the play between the two adjoining flanges, which play stems from necessary initial clearances between the fasteners and bores to allow for insertion of the fasteners into the bores.

  • Patent number: 4268185
Abstract: Clamping assemblies are disclosed for clamping together two members which fit concentrically one within the other, such as a hub and shaft arrangement. In one type of construction there is an inner taper ring, an intermediate taper ring and an outer taper ring each having one or more taper surfaces. Altogether, there are at least two pairs of interacting taper surfaces. The taper angle of one of the pairs of surfaces is within a range of angles in which self-locking takes place while the taper angle of the other of the pairs of taper surfaces is greater than the angle at which self-locking takes place. A plurality of axially oriented clamping bolts axially clamp the intermediate taper ring against the inner and outer taper rings, and the vertexes of both taper angles of the intermediate taper ring are both located on the same side of the intermediate taper ring. Also, the clamping bolts grip that one of the taper rings having the taper angle located within the self-locking range.
