  • Patent number: 10894461
Abstract: A control unit for an air conditioning system of a vehicle is provided, wherein the air conditioning system has automatic climate control. The control unit is configured to calculate a fan strength limitation specified by a user. The control unit is further configured to activate the fan of the air conditioning system for automatic climate control depending on a fan characteristic curve and depending on the fan strength limitation, wherein the fan characteristic curve displays a fan strength for a fan of the air conditioning system as a function of a control deviation of the automatic climate control.

Date of Patent: January 19, 2021
    Assignee: Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft

  • Publication number: 20160052363
Abstract: A method for controlling a ventilation/air-conditioning system of a vehicle and a vehicle having such a system, are provided. In a recirculated-air mode in which air in the passenger compartment is circulated and a fresh-air supply is shut off, at least one quality parameter of the recirculated air is measured at a point in the air duct system at which fresh air mixes with recirculated air to form mixed air. When the fresh-air supply is briefly opened fresh air from the environment briefly enters the air duct system, mixes with recirculated air, and at least one quality parameter of the mixed air is measured and compared with that of the recirculated air. The recirculated-air mode is maintained if the at least one quality parameter of the mixed air is worse than that of the recirculated air, and a switch to fresh air mode is made if the at least one quality parameter of the mixed air is better than that of the recirculated air.

  • Patent number: 8672022
Abstract: A method and a correspondingly designed motor vehicle are provided for pre-climatizing the motor vehicle when shut-off by way of a heating and/or cooling unit, which draws its energy for heating and/or cooling from an electric storage unit. When the heating and/or cooling unit is activated by a vehicle external operator control element, the heating and/or cooling unit is initially activated in a first output stage. Then, the heating and/or cooling unit is switched from the first output stage to a second output stage as a function of predetermined conditions.

  • Publication number: 20100009246
Abstract: A cooling system and method for a vehicle battery is described. A high flow rate cooling loop in heat transfer communication with the battery is provided, for removing heat from the battery with a coolant. A first cooling device may be selectively coupled to the high flow rate cooling loop, using a refrigerant fluid to transfer heat with the coolant, and a second cooling device can also be selectively coupled to the high flow rate cooling loop, using ambient air to transfer heat with the coolant. A valve for directing the coolant to at least a selected one of the first and second cooling devices is provided, and a controller is used to implement a coolant flow bypass function by commanding operation of the valve to bypass the selected one of the cooling devices to limit a temperature gradient between the coolant and the battery.
