  • Publication number: 20050110703
Abstract: A color display apparatus and method for displaying colors using radiation sources uses displays that may include multiple radiation sources, a display surface and control hardware and software that enable accurate and reproducible color display. Another apparatus provides means for generating colors upon request and communicating digital information regarding the generation of the color spectrum to local or remote display devices. The apparatus may be used in selecting and ordering colors subject to supplier constraints. Methods for displaying colors and enabling display of the colors in remote locations, as well as methods for conducting business by communicating the color display information are all provided.

  • Patent number: 6797204
Abstract: The method uses color to determine the wear of the screw and barrel of the molding machine. The method measures the color and/or color variation to determine the wear. A first material of a first color and a second material of a second color are fed into the machine to create a third material with a third color. The third material is either extruded to form a part or is injected into a mold to form a part. The color of the part is then measured with a measuring device, such as, spectrophotometer. The color will change as the screw and barrel wear. The color value would then be compared with previous color values to determine the amount of wear.

  • Patent number: 5012431
Abstract: A method for generating the characteristics of a set of colors involves selecting at least two, and typically more reference colors. Each of the selected reference colors is described by a set of color characteristic data indicating the reflectance of each color at each of a set of predetermined wavelengths; and descriptions of the intermediate color samples are generated by computer the relative proportions of each base color which characterizes each intermediate color and calculating a reflectance value at each wavelength for the color to be generated proportionate to the reflectance values for each base color at the corresponding wavelength. A set of color samples is created as a result of the method for generating the characteristics of the colors and arranged in a geometry indicative of the method.

  • Patent number: 4310314
Abstract: A reflected color simulator is disclosed which utilizes a plurality of color discs positioned adjacent to one another wherein each disc includes several individual sections which are interleaved with respect to the other color discs such that rotational movement of the discs with respect to one another will vary the percentage of color from each disc which contributes to the color displayed when the discs are spun together. The entire group of discs, which could be of any number but preferably 6 or 7, are rotated by a main drive device to mix the colors so exposed to form the desired color by reflected simulation. An observer when viewing the spinning group of color discs will see a reflected color which is determined by the exposed percentages of each color disc.
