  • Patent number: 11542451
Abstract: A method of producing a nanoemulsion is disclosed that provides an oleaginous base fuel, and water in an amount of at least 10 wt %. A first nonionic surfactant, a second nonionic surfactant and a third nonionic surfactant are mixed in substantially equal weight ratios into a surfactant mixture. The surfactant mixture is mixed with the water and the base fuel to form the nanoemulsion fuel. A nanoemulsion fuel composition can comprise an external oleaginous phase comprised of base fuel, an internal aqueous phase comprised of water, and a surfactant mixture comprised of a plurality of surfactants. The first surfactant can be derived from ethylene oxide, the second surfactant and the third surfactant are detergents having a fatty acid.

  • Patent number: 9782342
Abstract: A composite magnetic nanoparticle drug delivery system provides targeted controlled release chemotherapies for cancerous tumors and inflammatory diseases. The magnetic nanoparticle includes a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer, a magnetic nanoparticle, the biological targeting agent human serum albumin, and a therapeutic pharmaceutical composition. The composite nanoparticles are prepared by oil-in-oil emulsion/solvent evaporation and high shear mixing. An externally applied magnetic field draws the magnetic nanoparticles to affected areas. The biological targeting agent draws the nanoparticles into the affected tissues. Polymer degradation provides controlled time release delivery of the pharmaceutical agent.

  • Patent number: 9776107
Abstract: An apparatus for recycling of fibers pre-impregnated with resin may include a container configured to receive a predetermined amount of solvent and a predetermined amount of fibers pre-impregnated with resin. The apparatus may also include an energy source configured to provide sound energy into the container in order to facilitate the removal of resin from the fibers, and a controller configured to control a frequency of the sound energy provided by the energy source into the container.

  • Publication number: 20170100902
Abstract: Nanocomposite microcapsules for self-healing of composites. The nanocomposite microcapsules comprise a urea-formaldehyde shell encompassing a liquid core of polymerizable healing agent. The microcapsules further comprise nanoparticulates encompassed in the core and also present on the outer surface of the microcapsule shell. Self-healing composites with the nanocomposite microcapsules embedded in the composite polymer matrix are also described. Methods of making and using the same are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20140283348
Abstract: A method for recycling a fiber laminae, the fiber laminae being impregnated with a partially cured resin, the partially cured resin being expired, the method comprising steps of jetting a solvent toward the fiber laminae; extracting the partially cured resin from the fiber laminae, said extraction being effected by impingements of the solvent jet against the fiber laminae's impregnated partially cured resin; and drying the fiber laminae.

  • Patent number: 6440316
Abstract: Methods of improving the efficiency of solid-liquid separation during centrifugal filtration have been developed. They consist of increasing the pressure drop across the filter cake using extraneous means such as increasing the gas pressure inside a filter chamber and/or applying vacuum on the outside. The extraneous means of increasing the pressure drop is designed to increase the rate of removing liquid (water) during the drainage period of the centrifugal filtration process and, hence, lower the amount of the residual liquid (water) left in the filter cake.
