  • Patent number: 11730481
Abstract: A trocar retaining assembly is configured to releasably retain a trocar assembly and includes a housing assembly and a linkage assembly. A first arm is engaged with a first lateral linkage of the linkage assembly, and a portion of the first arm is slidable between a first position and a second position within a first lateral aperture of the housing assembly. A second arm is engaged with a second lateral aperture of the linkage assembly, and a portion of the second arm is slidable between a first position and a second position within a second lateral aperture of the housing assembly. The trocar assembly is hindered from translating longitudinally relative to the housing assembly when the first arm is in its first position, and the trocar assembly is longitudinally translatable when the first arm is in its second position.

  • Publication number: 20220395294
Abstract: A force sensor includes a substrate, sensing elements, a flex cable, and a seal assembly. The substrate has proximal and distal surfaces, and a cavity defined therein. The sensing elements are disposed within the cavity of the substrate and the pin block assembly is electrically coupled to the sensing elements. The seal assembly includes at least one gasket, a retainer plate, and a seal restraint. The seal assembly is held under compressive load to seal the cavity of the substrate and protect the sensing element disposed therein.

  • Patent number: 11399839
Abstract: An adapter assembly, for connecting a surgical reload to an electromechanical handle assembly, includes an outer tube; a trocar assembly releasably securable within a distal end of the outer tube, the trocar assembly including a trocar housing defining a pair of openings therein, wherein the pair of openings are in opposed radially extending relation to one another; and a trocar assembly release mechanism configured to releasably secure the trocar assembly within the outer tube. The release mechanism includes a pair of pins slidably supported within the outer tube, wherein each pin is selectively receivable within a respective opening of the pair of openings formed in the trocar housing; a release button supported in the outer tube and movable between an extended condition and a depressed condition; and a spring clip slidably supported in the outer tube, the spring clip interconnecting the release button and the pair of pins.

  • Publication number: 20220110709
Abstract: A trocar assembly for releasable engagement with an adapter assembly of a surgical stapling instrument includes housing, a trocar member slidably supported within the housing between a retracted position and an advanced position, and a chive member rotatably supported within the housing and in operable engagement with the trocar member to cause longitudinal movement of the trocar member relative to the housing between an advanced position and a retracted position. The housing includes a tubular body having a distal portion and an end cap assembly secured to the distal portion. The trocar member includes a proximal portion and at least one tab disposed on the proximal portion. The at least one tab is configured to engage the end cap assembly when the trocar member is in the advanced position to prevent further advancement of the trocar member.

  • Publication number: 20210212789
Abstract: A force sensor includes a substrate, a plurality of sensing elements, a seal, and a cover plate. The substrate includes a proximal surface and a distal surface, with the plurality of sensing elements coupled to the distal surface of the substrate. The seal includes a base wall and a flange extending proximally from the base wall. The flange is positioned against the distal surface of the substrate to define a cavity between the base wall of the seal and the distal surface of the substrate within which the plurality of sensing elements are disposed. The cover plate is positioned over the seal and fixed to the substrate. The cover plate applies a closure force on the seal to inhibit the ingress of fluids into the cavity.
