  • Patent number: 7519167
Abstract: An information handling system receives management information from a network, such as IPMI information, with plural network interface cards of the information handling system in a teaming configuration. Upon detecting management information, a network interface card issues an SMBus alert to a management processor of the information handling system. A team module running on the management processor reads the status of the network interfaces to identify the network interface associated with the alert and reads the management information from the network interface. Management information sent to the network is sent through a predetermined one of the network interfaces to ensure that, if teaming gets deactivated at the switch, there will not be multiple NICs with the same BMC MAC address transmitting to the switch.

  • Publication number: 20080147858
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for a distributed out-of-band (OOB) management controller system enabling efficient usage of power while providing multiple methods and levels of communication between intelligent devices. Two or more management controllers collaboratively operate in a predetermined manner including, but not limited to, peer-to-peer, master/slave, or independently. Management information consistency is maintained across a system's power states by implementing distributed intelligent devices that directly interact as communication devices to local or remote management consoles. A management protocol is implemented such that management information is communicated between managed elements and management controllers over physical interfaces or via a network connection.

  • Patent number: 6647415
Abstract: A computer system and method of operating a network in which data overflow from workstation or PC hard drives is automatically transferred over to a network server hard drive allowing the workstation user to continue working without interruption. Furthermore, this system minimizes the amount of time a network administrator spends on attending to users who have no remaining hard drive space on their computers.

  • Publication number: 20030126283
Abstract: A system provides a router node to bridge a LAN and a System Area Network (SAN). The router node distributes LAN traffic across the SAN using a router management agent (RMA) and a filter agent (FA); the RMA includes a session management agent (SMA), a policy management agent (PMA) and a routing agent (RA); the SMA manages connections between remote clients and SAN nodes; the PMA maintains system operation policies; the RA with the FA direct LAN packets to SAN nodes; the FA handles conversion between a SAN protocol and a LAN protocol for packets within the SAN/LAN architecture. The cluster nodes include a node management agent (NMA); the NMA includes an SMA and PMA; these two agents perform the same functions as those in the router node; and a management node sets policies on the router node and includes a monitoring agent to query router node statistics.

  • Patent number: 6288843
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system are provided for scanning documents, and creating holographic and panoramic images. The apparatus provides two sets of prisms, one set of which is made of electro-optical material. The prisms are arranged in alternating rows to form a sheet. The prism sheet can be laid fiat or rolled into a cylinder. A sequencer is used to activate individual electro-optical prisms so that the image is reflected into the sheet. A second prism is used to reflect the image into an image receptor such as a camera. By sequentially activating the electro-optical prisms, successive image portions of an object or objects can be presented to the image receptor. If the image receptor accepts digital input, the sequential images can be post-processed in a microprocessor to create a holographic or panoramic image. Similarly, images of documents can also be scanned and the images received can be digitized for processing, storage and/or transmission.

The apparatus provides two sets of prisms, one set of which is made of electro-optical material. The prisms are arranged in alternating rows to form a sheet. • Patent number: 6057965
Abstract: An improved system for scanning images is provided. The system includes a housing having a transparent support surface on which the document or other image being scanned is placed. The housing further contains an array of generally triangular-shaped prisms optically aligned. The array of prisms is coated with one of two types of electro-optical materials, one that makes the prisms reflective in the presence of an electromagnetic field and transparent in the absence of an electromagnetic field, and another that makes the prisms reflective in the absence of an electromagnetic field and transparent in the presence of an electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic field is created by applying a voltage across the coated prisms. A sequencer is used to activate individual electro-optical prisms so that the slices of the image can be reflected. By sequentially activating the electro-optical prisms, successive slices of the image can be presented to an image receptor disposed outside of the housing.
