  • Patent number: 8541919
Abstract: A rotor structure for an interior permanent magnet (IPM) electromotive machine is provided. The rotor structure may include at least one rotor lamination, which in turn may include at least one slot arranged to receive at least one permanent magnet. The slot divides the rotor lamination into a pole region and a yoke region. At least one bridge is arranged to connect the pole region to the yoke region at an outer edge of the lamination. The outer edge of the lamination is profiled along a segment of the bridge to define a concave curved profile for the bridge. The concave curved profile for the bridge allows to selectively size a thickness of the bridge to affect at least some electromagnetic and/or mechanical characteristic of the machine.

  • Publication number: 20110315257
Abstract: A valve system for pressure exchanger tubes of an energy recovery system is provided. The valve system includes a valve housing, a flow distributor, a hollow spool and a sealing system. The valve housing may comprise a set of high-pressure ports and a set of low-pressure ports. The flow distributor allows the flow to and from the set of high-pressure ports and the set of low-pressure ports within the valve housing. The hollow spool may be configured to reciprocate axially in a radial clearance between the valve housing and the flow distributor. The hollow spool may connect the pressure exchanger tube in fluid communication with the high-pressure ports or the low-pressure ports. The sealing system may be provided within the valve housing for imparting substantial hydraulic balance to the hollow spool.

  • Publication number: 20090224624
Abstract: A rotor structure for an interior permanent magnet (IPM) electromotive machine is provided. The rotor structure includes at least one rotor lamination including a first group of slots and a second group of slots arranged to form a magnetic pole. The first group of slots may be arranged to form a magnetic flux along a direct axis of the magnetic pole resulting from the first and second group of slots. At least some of the first group of slots is arranged to receive a respective permanent magnet. The second group of slots is arranged to provide a separation for the magnetic flux from adjacent magnetic poles and lying along a quadrature axis of said magnetic pole. At least some of the second group of slots is arranged without a permanent magnet. The rotor structure further includes a magneto-mechanical barrier arranged to reduce a peak level of mechanical stress occurring by the first and/or the second group of slots and/or impede a flow of magnetic flux through the barrier.
