Publication number: 20170000986Abstract: Method of forming a balloon catheter includes providing an elongate tubular shaft having an outer tubular member having proximal and distal portions, and an inner tubular member having a distal length extending distally from the distal portion of the outer tubular member. The elongate tubular shaft has an inflation lumen and a guidewire lumen defined therein. The guidewire lumen extends along at least the distal length of inner tubular member. The method also includes coupling a distal end section to a distal end of the inner tubular member and having a proximal end and a distal end. The method also includes coupling a proximal end of a balloon to the distal portion of the outer tubular member, and coupling a distal portion of the balloon to the distal end section. The balloon has a working length between the proximal end and the distal end. The balloon defines an inner chamber. The proximal end of the distal end section is disposed within the inner chamber.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2016Publication date: January 5, 2017Applicant: ABBOTT CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEMS INC.Inventors: Ramon Arana, Daniel Brown, Curt A. Novak, Justin K. Mann, John A. Simpson, Bruce M. Wilson, Leonard D. Barnod

Patent number: 8657782Abstract: A catheter having shaft segments which are joined together by a strong bond providing a low profile shaft section with a flexibility transition and/or a compositional transition. A balloon catheter embodying features of the invention has a distal tip member and a coupling band member surrounding a junction of an inner tubular member of the shaft, and has a gradual change in bending stiffness along a distal end section of the shaft which extends distally from a location within the balloon interior. Another catheter embodying features of the invention has shaft segments joined together by a diagonal seam.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2012Date of Patent: February 25, 2014Assignee: Abbott Cardiovascular Systems, Inc.Inventors: Ramon Arana, Daniel Brown, Curt A. Novak, Justin K. Mann, John A. Simpson, Bruce M. Wilson, Leonard D. Barbod

Patent number: 8632732Abstract: Example embodiments relate a device for measuring the water activity of foods and method for obtaining a water activity measurement. The device includes a container housing the food sample, a disc of permeable material to support a reactive substance which in turn is used to record the water activity level of the food sample (23) being studied. The substance is positioned in the center of the disc. A threaded cover is disposed at a free end of the container. When insulation is provided between the interior and exterior of the container, any water contained in the food sample evaporates and as it passes through the disc. As the water comes into contact with the reactive substance, a color scale records the water activity of the study sample.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2008Date of Patent: January 21, 2014Inventors: Dimas Jimenez Mendoza, Ramón Arana Errasqui
