Abstract: An infant seat for automobiles which includes a folding support hinged to a frame located in the bench seat or bucket seat backrest of an automobile and designed to support an infant or child when positioned in extended configuration. Flexible side flaps are attached to each side of the support and extend upwardly to the automobile seat backrest in order to stabilize the head and shoulders of an infant or child seated on the support. Crotch and shoulder straps extend from a point of anchor at the support through a back support flap or partition located between the infant seat and the seat backrest, to second points of anchor at the seat frame and the vehicle frame, in order to secure the infant or child in position on the support. When not in use, the support is foldable along with the flexible side flaps into the backrest to facilitate accommodation of an adult in conventional fashion on the automobile seat.
