  • Patent number: 7218886
Abstract: A method for removing a residue, such as lateral charge migration (LCM) film, from an imaging member includes contacting at least a portion of the imaging member with a wash liquid capable of removing the residue. The wash liquid containing the residue is then removed, for example, by applying an absorbent material such as a toner, to the contacted portion of the imaging member.

  • Patent number: 6278270
Abstract: A device that can sense small changes in distance between opposed surfaces includes a ferromagnetic material and a giant magneto resistance effect sensor. A current source applies a current to the sensor to operate the sensor and read the magnetic field that impinges on the sensor from the ferromagnetic material. The magnetic field changes when the distance between the opposed surfaces changes. The device can be used in imaging apparatus to sense multifeeds and other conditions.

  • Patent number: 5794345
Abstract: A folding saw includes a double edge saw blade first and second frame members pivotally connected to one end of the blade, and first and second handles pivotally joined to the first and second frame members respectively. Frame members and handles are movable between a closed configuration covering the edges of the blade, and an open configuration in which they together form the saw handle. The first and second handles lock together in both configurations. One handle member includes a retractable knife blade.

  • Patent number: 5208986
Abstract: A foldable bucksaw includes an elongated hollow box frame, which is also a blade storage sheath, with left and right handles connected by over center hinges to the ends of the box frame for movement between storage position and operative position. A screw mechanism on one handle is connected to the sawblade to tighten and loosen it. The screw mechanism includes an adjusting screw mounted on the handle and a tensioner nut for connection to the blade. The tensioner nut includes a central threaded aperture, a blade mount portion below it to position the sawblade in line with the adjusting screw, and an upper portion for extension into said saw handle to prevent the tensioner nut from rotating when the adjusting screw is rotated and while the blade is in use.

  • Patent number: 5130525
Abstract: A document image scanner is provided in which a platen is provided with an optical target in the form of a succession of ruling lines provided at one edge thereof. The ruling lines are inclined at an angle relative to a direction of scan of an optical sensor array such that 5% or less coverage change is provided over each pixel on a scanning line of the array. An output signal from scanning each line can be produced as a square wave signal. From the generated signal, the scanning motion may be corrected. A diagnostic tool is also provided for diagnosing scanning motion using at least two of the optical targets.

  • Patent number: 5026044
Abstract: A system for efficiently feeding normal sized and oversized documents into different imaging positions overlying an imaging platen. All documents are initially fed onto the platen from an infeeding position desirable for normal documents substantially downstream from the upstream end of the platen. A normal document is only fed unidirectionally downstream into an imaging position. A sensed oversized document is initially fed downstream, but then, after its trail edge has cleared the infeeding position, it is reverse fed towards the upstream end of the platen into a imaging position partially overlying the normally unused upstream portion of the platen. A baffle normally directly overlies that area of the platen. During the initial reverse movement of an oversized document has baffle is pivoted upwardly at its downstream edge, at the infeeding position, to provide a document guide surface under the baffle.

  • Patent number: 4852507
Abstract: An amphibious sail craft with a sail-wing system is disclosed, including a rotatably mounted mast, a rotatable boom pivotally mounted to the mast, and a sail-wing mounted to the boom and rotatable with the boom about horizontal and vertical axes for varying the attitude of the sail-wing among sail positions or wing positions or combinations thereof. Mechanism to turn the mast and to rotate and tilt the boom to thereby control the attitude of the sail-wing includes: sheets to rotate the boom about its axis; a control wheel to selectively pull one or the other of the sheets, or to pull them both to control the rearward tilt of the boom; and a control column and reaction gear to turn the mast away from the movement of the control column.

  • Patent number: 4355891
Abstract: An optical system is provided for a reproducing machine which scans an object to be reproduced, utilizing a pulsing light source to illuminate successive incremental portions of the object. The ray reflected from the scanned image is directed along an optical path onto the imaging plane. The scanned image is directed onto the imaging plane by a reflector element which has an active slit formed on its surface. The reflector element is positioned an optimum distance from the imaging plane such that the image is defocused at more than one magnification ratio.
