  • Patent number: 7046970
Abstract: Phase modulation control techniques and supporting apparatus avoid phase discontinuity at the outset of RF signal generation. Such discontinuities might arise from phase control instabilities associated with transmit start up or from abrupt changes in phase at the beginning of transmit signal generation. A transmitter uses starting phase values in advance of transmit data phase values to initialize phase modulation control circuits or functions. Once phase control is stabilized, and possibly after other criteria are met, the transmitter transitions from using the starting phase values to using the transmit data phase values, so that a transmit signal begins carrying phase modulations associated with the desired transmit data.

  • Patent number: 6532374
Abstract: A radiotelephone includes a base unit mounted within the vehicle having a wide area transceiver for communicating with a station outside the vehicle, a control unit disposed in the vehicle remotely from the base unit, and a local area network for establishing a communication link between the base unit and the control unit. The local area network is adapted to transmit control and data signals between the base unit and the control unit. The control unit includes a keypad for entering commands and data that are transmitted to the base unit via the local area network, and a display for displaying information to the user. The control unit may also include a speaker and microphone. Alternatively, the speaker and microphone may be contained in a remote audio unit that is linked to the base unit via the local area network. The control unit may, for example, be incorporated into the steering wheel of a vehicle while the base unit is concealed in the trunk or under the seat of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6240277
Abstract: A fixed cellular system including a telephone unit, interface and a fixed cellular terminal is disclosed. A telephone unit enables the generation of a sequence of digits in response to a user input. The sequence of digits are forwarded to a system interface wherein a send command is attached to each digit generated by the telephone unit. The digits with attached send commands are forwarded to a fixed cellular terminal responsive to the send commands such that receipt of a send command delays initiation of calls to destinations associated with the sequence of digits for a predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 6173193
Abstract: A fixed cellular interface system is disclosed that includes an interface system arranged between a standard telephone unit and a fixed cellular terminal. The interface system includes a voice prompt system, which can be programmed to generate speech using the native language for the geographical region involved. The voice prompt system detects the user of the POTS phone going “off hook”, and vocally prompts the user to enter the desired number followed by the “#” sign. The interface system converts the received “#” sign to a “SEND” signal. The interface system transfers the dialed number followed by the “send” signal to the fixed cellular terminal which initiates the call to the cellular system.
