  • Patent number: 8725699
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for managing data for a clinical decision support system includes providing a computer management system including a server and a database, and downloading the decision support system onto the computer management system. The decision support system includes a plurality of rules and receives data. The method also includes accessing the decision support system and issuing an alert associated with a predetermined data pattern to at least one client system according to the rules, receiving a request for additional information from the at least one client system in response to the issued alert, determining additional data that has been requested, and retrieving the additional information associated with the issued alert.

  • Publication number: 20120278797
Abstract: Certain examples provide a clinical information system software system. The example system includes a decomposer to decompose system functions included in a system concept into a plurality of individual functional components. The example system includes a design process to transform the plurality of functional components into a series of input files that include definitions to describe components forming a clinical information system configuration for installation. The example system includes a product generator to combine the information in the series of input files into a single software artifact including information and functionality to bootstrap and load a machine node and make the software artifact available to a target site for execution and installation.

  • Patent number: 8170972
Abstract: A method for identifying conflicting and duplicate rules in a decision support system is provided. The method includes establishing a first subsystem including a protocol of existing rules, each existing rule includes an input feature. The method also includes creating a new rule that includes an input feature, and comparing terminology in the input feature of the new rule against terminology in the input feature of each existing rule of the protocol using a second subsystem and determining whether the new rule and at least one existing rule from the protocol are similar.

  • Patent number: 8086552
Abstract: A method for dynamically prompting a caregiver for pertinent information about a patient uses a computer or processor operating as a rule-based system. The method includes receiving a first data input triggering a rule in a first rule queue requiring both a first data input and at least a second data input. The method further includes determining that the second data input is not available or is outdated, placing the rule in a second rule queue for later execution, and, when the second data input is available within a selected period of time, executing the rule, or otherwise, after the selected period of time, sending an electronic message to a caregiver to take action to provide the second data input.

  • Publication number: 20090187419
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a clinical decision support system comprising a clinical decision support processing component adapted to determine the occurrence of an event based at least in part on at least one message received by the clinical decision support processing component and an alert feed server adapted to publish a clinical alert to an alert feed based at least in part on the event. The alert feed is in a standard syndication format.

  • Publication number: 20080288288
Abstract: A computer-based method for generating rules for a clinical decision support system includes displaying a selected lab result for a patient, receiving a command from a user to create a rule using the selected lab result, and displaying questions and receiving answers from the user concerning future values of the selected lab result and/or trends of the selected lab result. The method further includes generating a rule for notifying the user based upon the future values of the selected lab result and/or trends of the selected lab result, in accordance with the received answers from the user.
