  • Publication number: 20180305554
Abstract: A process for producing surface modified carbon black is disclosed. The process comprises the step of treating carbon black with a sulfur compound in an amount in the range of 0.005%-1% of the carbon black to effect in situ formation of surface groups to produce the surface modified carbon black which when combined with a polymer composition alters the carbon black-polymer interaction to decrease the hysteresis of the polymer composition. The curing time required for polymer composition comprising the surface modified carbon black is also decreased. The preferred sulfur compounds are sulfite or sulfate salts.

  • Patent number: 9156992
Abstract: The present disclosure envisages a process for pelletizing carbon black by mixing carbon black powder and water in a proportion in the range of 0.1:2 to 2:1 with a binding agent and a dispersing agent. The dispersing agent is an amine-based surfactant and is added in a proportion in the range of 0.005-0.1% of the total mixture. The mixture is pelletized in a pelletizer and subsequently the raw pellets are dried for 20-60 minutes at a temperature between 150-250° C., to obtain the carbon black pellets. The process of the present disclosure provides uniform distribution of water on the surface of the pellets giving a uniform pellet quality, reduced water consumption, energy savings and an increased production rate.
