  • Patent number: 5096082
Abstract: An improved beverage container for preventing spills comprising a walled vessel, into which is formed a hingable tab. The tab can obtain closed, narrow-opened, and wide-opened positions through a tab pressing element pivotably mounted on the container. In the opened positions, the tab defines an aperture through which the beverage can flow. One end of a compliant flap is mounted on the inside of the container such that the other end, in a preferred primary position, completely covers the aperture, thereby preventing the beverage from flowing through the aperture. The flap obtains a secondary position when the tab is set in a narrow-open position and thereby forcing the flap away from the aperture, allowing fluid to flow therethrough. A person's upper lip may also press the flap away from the aperture during the process of drinking from the vesseel, thereby permitting the beverage to flow through the aperture.

  • Patent number: 5020185
Abstract: The invention is a disposable dust pan. It is stored as a flat sheet in a stack ready for use. When needed, one sheet is peeled away from the stack and folded to form a convenient dust pan. Non-hardening adhesive is used to hold the sheet in the folded orientation and to seal one edge to the surface requiring cleaning. After use, the dust pan is sealed to trap dust and debris within a folded pocket and then the entire device is discarded.

  • Patent number: 4976367
Abstract: A container for food or the like comprises a cylindrical wall enclosed by a top and a bottom lid. The cylindrical wall has a slight angle, thereby being wider at the top lid than at the bottom lid. The bottom lid contains a round vent hole having its lip drawn over in the direction of the interior of the container. An air-tight vent seal tab covers the vent hole. With the top lid removed, the container is inverted so that the bottom lid is facing upward, and then the vent seal tab is removed. A common drinking straw is inserted into the vent hole and is sealed therein by the vent hole lip. Mouth pressure is applied to the drinking straw. This pressure and the force due to gravity, together, force the contents of the container to start to move downward toward the open top lid. As initial motion occurs the contents looses contact with the sidewall of the container because of the slight angle and thereby is easily removed.
