  • Patent number: 11968752
Abstract: The present technology is directed to establishing a connection between a client device within a 2G or 3G network and 5G core through an interworking function. The present technology can perform establishing a Gn-4G interworking function (IWF) between a client access network and a packet anchor network and performing one or more network functions through the Gn-4G IWF in providing a client of the client access network access to network services through the packet anchor network. The one or more network functions appear as one or more Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) functions from the client access network (e.g., 2G or 3G network). The one or more network functions concurrently appear as one or more S4 Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN) functions from the packet anchor network (e.g., 4G or 5G network).

  • Publication number: 20240031347
Abstract: A method comprising: at a network function (NF) repository function (NRF) of a core network that includes a consumer NF and a producer NF: issuing, to the consumer NF, an access token used to access services of the producer NF based on allowed authorization attributes of the producer NF; before expiry of the access token, receiving, from the producer NF, an update message that indicates retiring authorization attributes of the allowed authorization attributes, and storing the retiring authorization attributes; before the expiry of the access token, upon receiving, from the consumer NF, an access token request for a new access token, determining not to authorize the access token request based on the retiring authorization attributes; and based on determining, sending, to the consumer NF, an access token error to enable the consumer NF to migrate service requests to a new producer NF before the expiry.

  • Publication number: 20240031781
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and techniques for improved signaling of subscriber information and updates thereto for one or more location-based user plane services. In one examples, the systems and techniques can include determining the existence of a converged User Plane Function (UPF) comprising a Serving Gateway User Plane (SGW-U) session and a Packet Data Network (PDN) Gateway User Plane (PGW-U) session. In response to determining the existence of the converged UPF, User Equipment (UE) information can be transmitted from a Serving Gateway Control Plane (SGW-C) session to the SGW-U session of the converged UPF. The UE information received at the SGW-U session can be shared to the PGW-U session of the converged UPF, wherein the PGW-U session receives the UE information without communicating with a PDN Gateway Control Plane (PGW-C) session.

  • Patent number: 11843512
Abstract: Presented herein are efficient techniques in which an application function (AF) session is established between a first policy control function (PCF) in a standalone non-public network (SNPN) domain and a second PCF in a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) domain, wherein a user equipment has a first session with the SNPN domain, the AF session is established for a second session of the user equipment with the PLMN domain, and the AF session is bound to the first session. The second PCF obtains an indication of a data flow initiated for the user equipment for the second session within the PLMN domain and determines flow information associated with the data flow. The second PCF transmits to the first PCF the flow information associated with the data flow for creating the data flow in the SNPN domain.

  • Publication number: 20230209657

  • Publication number: 20230114175
Abstract: A system is provided for supporting roaming between LTE EPC network and 5G network of a first mobile network operator by 5GC network of a second network operator. The system may include the EPC network including a serving gateway in communication with a 4G base station being in the EPC network. The system may also include the 5G network of the first mobile network operator including a vSMF in communication with a 5G base station being in the 5G network of the first network operator. The system may also include the 5GC network of the second network operator including a hSMF. The vSMF is configured to receive a communication from the serving gateway to anchor mobility between the LTE EPC network and the 5G network of the first mobile network operator, and to communicate with the hSMF in the 5GC network of the second network operator using 5G roaming interfaces.
