  • Patent number: 5694709
Abstract: A pipeline padding machine is provided comprising a crushing mechanism for crushing large pieces of excavated material into smaller pieces of material that are suitable for use in padding a pipeline or underground cable. In preferred embodiments, the crusher comprises two parallel rollers that are arranged with a selected gap between them. The rollers are driven toward each other, such that excavated material that is fed onto the rollers is drawn into the gap, and pieces that are too large to fall through the gap are crushed by the rollers. The crusher mechanism may be installed on a known type of padding machine, preferably at the end of the transverse conveyor over the trench. Alternatively, the crusher may be mounted on the padding machine frame. The output material from the crusher may be screened or otherwise processed, or it may be delivered directly to the trench.

  • Patent number: 4221269
Abstract: A pipe spinner for spinning drill pipe as used to dig deep wells includes a yoke with a torque arm. Three self-contained rotary hydraulic motors having urethane coated rollers on the exterior thereof are mounted upon the spinner, one in the central area of the yoke and one each on a swing arm pivoted to the end of the legs on the yoke. Hydraulic fluid for the three motors is supplied and removed axially thereof. The hydraulic fluid conduits are made flexible at the pivots.

  • Patent number: 4011906
Abstract: Method and apparatus for removing paraffin deposits from the production tubing of an oil well. A sub is series connected into the production string at a location below the area where deposition of paraffin occurs, and treatment fluid, such as hot water, is pumped downhole towards the inlet end of the string. A spring loaded valve means is located in a lateral flow passageway of the sub and opens when a pre-set tubing pressure is exceeded, thereby enabling the treatment fluid to be forced down the upper production tubing, past the paraffinic deposition, into the sub, through the lateral flow passageway, and into the casing annulus, thereby dissolving the crystalline paraffin so that the production tubing is no longer obstructed with paraffinic deposits.
