  • Publication number: 20210252565
Abstract: An improved refractory removal system may provide a top, bottom, and nozzle assemblies. At least one of the top or bottom assemblies may provide a rotation mechanism that allows a nozzle or the nozzle assembly to be rotated about a central axis or axis of rotation. The system may provide one or more securing mechanism(s) that allow the system to be secured in a desired position of a refractory vessel that refractory material is to be removed from. The nozzle assembly may provide an axial actuation mechanism that allows the nozzle to be moved away or towards the central axis. The nozzle assembly may also provide a linear actuation mechanism that allows the nozzle to be moved up or down along the central axis. It shall be recognized that the system provides at least three degrees of motion to the nozzle, thereby allowing the system to be utilized for a variety of situations.

  • Patent number: 9475652
Abstract: A system for processing core wheels and associated method are disclosed. A sorting station is configured to allow sorting of a source of wheels according to a first set of criteria. A first conveyor is configured to receive a plurality of wheels conforming to the first criteria and to a first inspection station, disposed along the first conveyor. The first inspection station is configured to allow examination of the wheels to determine whether the wheels conform to a second criteria. A diverter mechanism, downstream of the first inspection station, is configured to divert wheels conforming to the second criteria from the first conveyor. A second conveyor is configured to receive the diverted wheels and to direct the diverted wheels to a second inspection station, whereby the diverted wheels may be inspected at the second inspection station to confirm that the diverted wheels conform to the second criteria.

  • Patent number: 8134287
Abstract: An ion source includes a pair of pole elements, at least one shunt element, and at least one magnetic field producing element that produces a magnetic field. A gap is defined between the pole elements of the pair of pole elements. The at least one magnetic field producing element and the at least one shunt element cooperate to define at least a part of a magnetic field conducting circuit that conducts the magnetic field between the pole elements of the pair of pole elements. The pair of pole elements and the at least one shunt element are formed from a material that consists essentially of ferrous metal having an overall carbon content of less than 0.08 percent.

  • Publication number: 20100132973
Abstract: An electrical power cable has an insulation shield with at least one path of weakness along a length of the cable to facilitate stripping. When the path of weakness is a score or groove, a thickness of the insulation shield—between a bottom of the at least one groove and the outer surface of the underlying insulation layer is about 1-15 mils. Preferably, blades arranged around the circumference cable following extrusion of the insulation shield cut the at least one groove continuously into the shield along the cable's length. The at least one groove, or other means for imparting weakness, enables an installer to easily strip the insulation shield in the field with minimal use of specialized tools.

  • Patent number: 6138778
Abstract: The present invention is a low differential pressure relief valve made up of a valve body and an elastic membrane for downhole tools, especially rolling cutter drill bits. An aperture is formed in the membrane and a valve body with protruding end stops is mounted in the aperture. The thickness and shape of the valve body are such that the aperture is stretched when assembled. The amount the membrane is stretched and the geometry of the protruding end stop, control the differential relief pressure. The valve body and each end stop can be designed so that the pressure relief setting will be different, depending upon which side of the membrane has the higher pressure. The relief device may be adapted to be integral with existing elastic membrane type lubricant pressure compensation devices for downhole tools.

  • Patent number: 6062700
Abstract: An armband which provides a platform for both holding and directing a beam of light from a flashlight as well as protection from blows and knife attacks. The armband has a circular body which is slipped over the forearm of the user The armband provides mild compression of the forearm so that the armband does not readily slip off of the user. The armband is further tightened using at least one fastening strap which "cinches" the armband tighter onto the arm. In the preferred embodiment, two fastening straps are used, one above and one below the muscle bulge on the forearm. The flashlight is secured to the armband to direct the beam of light parallel to the forearm. Activation of the flashlight is by tapping a spring activator which engages the switch on the flashlight. To provide further protection, a shield is also incorporated into the armband. In the preferred embodiment the shield is removable from the armband, but, in other embodiments, the shield is embedded into the armband itself.

  • Patent number: 5833431
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the transportation and storage of compressible items in a compressed state, the apparatus comprising a lower member featuring a horizontal floor; an upper member featuring a horizontal roof, the upper member being slideably connected to the lower member; a platform between the floor and roof that is slideably connected to the upper and lower member; a rotational expulsion mechanism attached to the lower member, upper member, and platform; and an attachment point, said attachment point facilitating the connection of the apparatus to a vehicle. Compressible items may be loaded onto the platform, after which the platform is raised so that compressible items may be loaded between the floor and platform. The roof may then be lowered, compressing both those items between the roof and platform and those items between the platform and floor.
