Abstract: A system is disclosed for assembling a composite, self-baking electrode for electric arc furnaces. The electrode includes an outer metal ferrule, a central column of prebaked carbon or graphite sections assembled by nipples. New sections are added to the column from carbon paste placed between the ferrule and the central column. The assembling system principally includes a support that is vertically mobile over a length greater than the length of each of the sections. The support suspends the central column. A device is provided for temporarily blocking the column and a clamping device applies a preset torque to a newly added section while the blocking device temporarily blocks the column from movement thereby screwing the newly added section to an adjacently positioned section of the column.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus which is intended to equip a support substrate with integrated circuit devices of different kinds mounted originally on films. The apparatus includes a machine having cutting heads each associated with the film, and soldering heads. The substrate is mounted on a plate which is movable on a table in a direction perpendicular to the movement of the table, which movement takes place on a threaded spindle drive by a motor. The operation of the machine is monitored and controlled by a unit such as a computer. The invention is applicable in particular to mounting such devices on substrates intended for data-processing assemblies.

Abstract: A control arrangement for controlling the movement of an oscillating lever so as to allow the lever to exert a force of predetermined magnitude on an article placed in its path. Control of the lever is effected through a transmission mechanism which operably connects a control cam between the oscillating lever and an auxiliary lever in contact with the cam. A setting control sets the interacting force of the two levers to a predetermined value, such that, if the oscillating lever in the course of its movement in a first direction arising from rotary movement of the cam is arrested by an article arranged in its path, the force exerted by the oscillating lever on the article is at least equal to the predetermined value multiplied by the ratio between the distance which separates the shaft of the oscillating lever from the point where the interacting force is exerted on the lever, and the distance which separates the same shaft from the point where the oscillating lever is in contact with the article.
