Publication number: 20200298022Abstract: A pencil beam system includes a charged particle beam generator, a transport beamline apparatus, a scan nozzle, a fast deflector electromagnet, and a controller. After a therapeutic dose is delivered to a first target spot, the fast deflector electromagnet generates a first magnetic field that causes the net deflection of the charged particle beam to transition from the first target spot to an adjacent target spot. After the charged particle beam is directed to the adjacent target spot, the controller simultaneously adjusts the first magnetic field and the scan nozzle magnetic field to reduce and eliminate the contribution of the first magnetic field to the net deflection. The fast deflector electromagnet is deliberately designed with limited magnetic field and limited deflecting power to provide a higher slew rate, faster settling and less hysteresis contribution to beam position as compared to the scan nozzle electromagnets.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 19, 2019Publication date: September 24, 2020Inventors: John Gordon, Andrew Dart, Raymond Paul Boisseau

Patent number: 10710362Abstract: Disclosed is a method of providing adjustment data for a droplet deposition head (such as a printhead), or a data processing component therefor. The method makes use of test data, which has been collected by operating the droplet deposition head (or a test droplet deposition head of substantially the same construction, e.g from the same batch), using a set of test waveforms, at a number of frequencies within a test range, and by recording the volume and velocity of the thus-ejected droplets, with these recorded values (volr, velr) being represented within the test data. Each of the set of test waveforms includes a basic drive waveform and a number of adjusted drive waveforms, each of which corresponds to the basic drive waveform, but with a particular waveform parameter adjusted by a corresponding amount. This waveform parameter is a continuous variable, such as pulse width or pulse amplitude.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2017Date of Patent: July 14, 2020Assignee: XAAR TECHNOLOGY LIMITEDInventors: Tony Cruz-Uribe, Subramanian Sivaramakrishan, Raymond Paul Marko Dorrestijn

Patent number: 10582191Abstract: A system that generates a 3D environment from data collected by depth sensors (such as LIDAR) and color sensors (such as color video camera data) observing an area or activity, transmits versions of the 3D environment to various devices for display, and enables device users to dynamically alter a viewing angle of the 3D environment. The version of the 3D environment sent to each device may be optimized for the device's resolution and for the bandwidth of the connection to the device. Embodiments may enrich the 3D environment by detecting and tagging objects and their locations in the environment, and by calculating metrics related to motion or actions of these objects. Object tags and metrics may be transmitted to devices and displayed for example as overlays of images rendered from user-selected viewing angles. Embodiments of the system also enable 3D printing of an object as a memento for example.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2019Date of Patent: March 3, 2020Assignee: ALIVE 3DInventors: Raymond Paul Marchak, Jr., Russell Neil Harlan, Jr., Hunter Laux

Patent number: 10491744Abstract: A method and system are disclosed. An active application, which is an application other than a phone application and an address book application, displays information. A selection is received of an information portion from within the displayed information, the information portion being other than a telephone number. Based on determining the pressing of the call-initiation key while the information portion is selected, and based on accessing contact information stored within the address book application without opening or displaying the address book application, a detected contact entry stored by the address book application is determined where the detected contact entry includes the information portion. A target telephone number associated with the detected contact entry is determined based on determining the detected contact entry. A call to the target telephone number is placed.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2015Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: BlackBerry LimitedInventors: Andrew Douglas Bocking, Raymond Paul Vander Veen

Patent number: 10300304Abstract: An assembly for preventing an overdose of a charged particle beam during therapy to a patient includes a pixelated detector apparatus and a controller. The controller includes, for each pixel: a current integrator circuit that converts the local measured current into a total local detected charge integrated from a start time, the integrator circuit outputting an integrator voltage that corresponds to the total local detected charge; and a discriminator circuit that compares the integrator voltage with a reference voltage, the reference voltage corresponding to a maximum acceptable dose for the patient. A logic circuit generates an overdose fault signal if, at any of the pixels, the integrator voltage is higher than the reference voltage.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2018Date of Patent: May 28, 2019Assignee: Pyramid Technical Consultants Inc.Inventors: William P.
