  • Patent number: 4125194
Abstract: A torque arm assembly for securing a silo unloader output chute. The assembly preferably comprises first frame means adapted to extend vertically upwardly from the silo unloader and second, generally horizontal tracking frame means pivotally coupled to the first frame section for sequentially engaging silage discharge orifices. In operation the tracking frame alternately engages and then withdraws from each silo silage discharge orifice before dropping to a lower position. The tracking frame preferably includes latching means for selectively grasping the silo's discharge orifice partitions to control downward movement and cooperating roller wheel means for smoothly contacting the discharge orifice partitions to facilitate proper subsequent engagement within a lower discharge orifice. The latching means preferably comprises a fork portion pivotally coupled to the tracking means which temporarily grasps the orifice partitions to delay downward movement.

  • Patent number: 4071977
Abstract: Automatically actuable silo door apparatus and a silo equipped with same. The apparatus preferably comprises a door member adapted to selectively block a silage discharge orifice, a hinge assembly for mounting the door, retractable gun means for automatically activating the door apparatus, and trigger apparatus responsive to silage level for selectively activating the gun means to open the door. In a preferred form of the invention each trigger means comprises a portion received within an upper adjacent silo door orifice whereby an automatic silo unloader will contact and activate it during the unloading operation. The hinge means preferably comprises first and second spaced apart door hinge bars, each having portions pivotally mounted to the door member and integral offset portions thereof pivotally received by the silo. The hinge means enables the door member to be moved out of and away from the silo door orifice when opened to prevent interference with the unloader.

  • Patent number: 4062434
Abstract: An agricultural silo comprising a plurality of vertically spaced apart silage discharge orifices includes a twin passageway chute overlying the orifices. The chute includes a first passageway permitting unobstructed operator access and a separate silage discharge passageway which confines the silage during the unloading operation. A dormer door provided in the silo top may be opened to discharge silage therethrough. When opened the door vents the silo and, when closed, the door prevents material from entering the climbing and discharge chute during silo filling and prevents updrafts in the chute during unloading.

  • Patent number: 3997025
Abstract: A silo door structure having a ladder rung assembly on which the door is supported, the rung assembly including vertical pivot pin extensions received within vertical apertures formed in the top and bottom cross beams of the door frame. The weight of the door and ladder rung assembly is transmitted to the door frame through the pivot pin extensions as well as through offset, generally horizontal segments on the bottom end of the ladder rung assembly which rests on the bottom sill beam of the door frame when the door is closed.A locking bar swingably mounted on the door is held in tight engagement with the outside face of the door frame by camming members on a pivotal clamp arm so as to draw the door in tightly against a sealing gasket plastered in place around the periphery of the door frame opening.
