Publication number: 20230407973Abstract: A paddle valve assembly includes a valve body having a cylindrical passage defined therein, a paddle member having a seal disposed about an entire circumference thereof, and a drive shaft and an idler shaft that rotatably connect the paddle member to the valve body. The paddle member is rotatable within the cylindrical passage about a rotation axis between open and closed positions. The drive shaft and the idler shaft are disposed in the valve body in line with each other along the rotation axis of the paddle member and are received in offset pockets defined in the paddle member. The paddle member extends at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical passage when in the closed position. The sealing engagement between the seal and the cylindrical passage of the valve body is continuous about the entire circumference of the paddle member.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 19, 2022Publication date: December 21, 2023Inventor: Raymond V. Heelan, JR.

Publication number: 20220235865Abstract: A valve arrangement includes a valve body having a stem rotatably attached at least partially within the body, a handle in operable communication with the stem and configured to rotate the stem by turning the handle, and an actuation portion in contact with the stem and configured to move when the handle is turned and the stem rotated. The actuation portion includes a carrier having an inner bore. The inner bore receives at least a portion of the stem. The stem includes first and second thread portions. The first thread portion has a first thread pitch at least partially received within the inner bore. The second thread portion is in communication with a bonnet attached to the body with a second thread pitch and moves the stem with respect to the body. The second pitch is smaller than the first pitch.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 20, 2022Publication date: July 28, 2022Inventor: Raymond V. Heelan, JR.

Publication number: 20110101687Abstract: A coupling including a shell with shell arms, where ends of the shell arms are removably attached by a hinge assembly. A securing assembly releasably secures ends of the shell arms in an abutting relationship and includes a handle rotatably attachable at an end of a shell arm. The handle includes a handle body, a hinge orifice extending through a portion of the handle body, and a hinge pin extending through the hinge orifice. The hinge pin includes an orifice extending therethrough. The securing assembly also includes a substantially T-shaped bail having an arm with a first end and a base portion having an engagement member extending substantially transversely with respect to the bail arm. The engagement member mates with a groove positioned on the boss attached at or near an end of the other arm, and an end of the bail arm extends through the hinge pin orifice.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 2010Publication date: May 5, 2011Applicant: Allegheny Coupling CompanyInventors: Raymond V. Publication number: 20100108595Abstract: A straight strainer assembly for removing particle contaminants from a fluid flow includes a first body extending along a first longitudinal axis and a second body attached to the first tubular body. The second tubular body extends along a second longitudinal axis that is not parallel to the first longitudinal axis. A cylindrical strainer basket extends through the second hollow internal cavity from the second end of the second tubular body into the first hollow internal cavity. A retainer ring is disposed within the first tubular body and has an elliptical face portion extending obliquely within the first tubular.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 6, 2009Publication date: May 6, 2010Applicant: ALLEGHENY VALVE AND COUPLING, INC.Inventor: RAYMOND V. Patent number: 7578496Abstract: A valve arrangement includes a valve body defining an enclosure, having a bonnet connected to the valve body. A stem is rotatably attached to the valve body and positioned at least partially within the valve body. A handle is in operable communication with the stem and configured to rotate the stem. An actuation portion is positioned distal from the handle and in direct or indirect contact with the stem, wherein the actuation portion is configured to move when the stem is rotated. The stem includes a first thread portion and a second thread portion, the first thread portion having a first thread pitch and configured to interact with and move the actuation portion. The second thread portion is in communication with the bonnet having a second thread pitch and configured to move the stem with respect to the body. The second thread pitch is smaller than the first thread pitch.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2007Date of Patent: August 25, 2009Assignee: Allegheny Valve and Coupling, Inc.Inventors: Raymond V.
