There is provided an aspirator-mixer or zone to which the reaction mass is pumped to activate the same and into which another reactant is furnished and from which admixed reaction mass and reactant are discharged into a reaction zone in which the concentration or proportion of a vaporous or gaseous reactant is maintained at a level as desired by sucking therefrom into the suction side of the aspirator-mixer or zone any excess of such reactant.
