  • Patent number: 5464684
Abstract: A hybrid yarn which comprises an intimate blend of reinforcing fibers and matrix-forming thermoplastic fibers made of low viscosity polyamide and has been overwrapped with a further polyamide yarn is useful for producing laid, woven, knitted, braided and wound structures, which in turn can be consolidated into fiber composites.

  • Patent number: 5346510
Abstract: Dye mixtures comprising the dye of the formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is in each instance the radical of the formula ##STR2## and a dye of the formula ##STR3## where one of the two radicals R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 is methoxy and the other is hydroxysulfonyl, andR.sup.4 is hydrogen or hydroxysulfonyl, are useful for dyeing or printing hydroxyl- or nitrogen-containing organic substrates.

    Assignee: BASF Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Reinhold Krallmann, Regina Laws, Wolfgang Schrott
  • Patent number: 5177840
Abstract: Hybrid yarn is produced from thermoplastic and reinforcing fibers by spreading the fibers separately to form a band and combining and homogeneously intermixing the two bands on rolls or rods. The spreading is carried out in such a way that the reinforcing fiber band will be from 20 to 100% wider than the thermoplastic fiber band. The hybrid yarn can be sized and processed into fabrics which can be molded to produce fiber composites.
