Scale is in signal transmission connection with a control apparatus designed and programmed so that moisture of material to be dried is determined from weight measured by scale. Control apparatus is designed and programmed for controlling air conditioning so drying climate is set as a function of moisture of the respective material to be dried, as determined from the weight measured.

In particular, the submount configuration of the prior art is replaced by a pair of platelets, disposed above and below the diode laser bar so as to form a “sandwich” structure. The bottom platelet is disposed between the heatsink (cooler) and the diode laser bar. Thus, the bottom platelet may be relatively thin, creating a low thermal resistance configuration. The combination of the top and bottom platelets provides the ability to create various configurations and designs that best accommodate stress conditions for a particular situation.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a process and an apparatus to dry cut timber or other hygroscopical plate-shaped or bar-shaped goods in subatmospheric pressure in a vacuum-solid drying chamber, which is equiped with ventilators (fans) effecting crosswise to the length axis of the chamber to revolve a gaseous drying medium, with one or several heating coils extending over the length of the chamber, and with a dehumidifying device (condenser). It is task of the invention to regulate the heat energy supply for individual stack areas and thus the removal of humidity contained in the wood, independent of other stack areas of the same charge in the drying chamber. Thereby, existing or arising dispersions of the wood moisture in different stack areas due to inhomogeneous conditions inside and outside the drying chamber, ought to be eliminated during the drying stage before entering the final equalizing and conditioning stage.

    Abstract: Apparatus for drying wood or other solid material has an elongate cylindrical vessel in which there is an elongate platform on which is placed the material to be dried. The platform divides the interior of the vessel into an upper drying chamber and a lower condensing chamber with restricted communication between the two chambers. In the drying chamber there is a heater and one or more fans for circulating the air and water vapor in the chamber. An air cooling channel of much greater width than height extends below the vessel for its full length and is formed between a lower part of the vessel and a spaced outer wall formed of sheet metal or plastic and preferably heat insulated. One or more fans in the base of a chimney at one end of the cooling channel produce variable and reversible flow of air through the cooling channel.

    Abstract: Apparatus for drying cut wood has a cylindrical vessel with end covers at least one of which can be opened. The interior of the vessel is divided by a horizontal partition into a drying chamber above the partition, in which the wood is placed, and a condensation chamber below the partition. An opening in the partition provides restricted communication between the chambers. The interior of the vessel is filled with a drying medium made up of air and water vapor. A heater in the drying chamber heats the drying medium and a fan produces circulation of the drying medium in the drying chamber. The upper portion of the vessel wall, above the partition, is heat insulated while the lower portion, below the partition, is uninsulated and serves as a condenser for condensing water vapor in the condensation chamber. The lower portion of the vessel wall is cooled by a blower and by cooling coils in a foundation which supports the vessel.

The sensors are arranged at some distance from each other in the area of the stack. A flow control system is adjustable dependent upon the measured values obtained by the measuring sensors.

    Abstract: A dryer, especially for wood, has at least two drying chambers separated from each other by at least one partition wall, at least one fan in each of the drying chambers, and at least two connection passages for the reciprocal connection of the drying chambers. Each of the connection passages can be constricted or blocked off by blocking devices. To properly convey drying agent to where it is to be used, a fan is mounted in at least one of the drying chambers connected together by the connection passages, is associated with one connection passage, and is arranged directly adjacent to the connection passage. The blocking device includes a flap on one side only. When the flap is closed, it forms a part of the side wall of one connection passage. The flap is arranged directly in front of and in the conveying direction of the fan, such that, when it is open, it forms a deflector for the drying agent conveyed by the fan.
