Abstract: Apparatus for controlling the closing limit of a carburetor throttle valve in a motor vehicle engine. The apparatus comprises a vacuum-actuated device for varying the closing limit of the throttle valve in dependence upon the vacuum applied thereto; a vacuum line connecting the vacuum-actuated device with a source of intake manifold vacuum downstream of the throttle valve; a solenoid valve arranged in the vacuum line for controlling the vacuum transmitted by the line; and an electrical circuit for controlling the solenoid valve in dependence upon the gear shift position of the vehicle transmission.

The apparatus comprises a vacuum-actuated device for varying the closing limit of the throttle valve in dependence upon the vacuum applied thereto; a vacuum line connecting the vacuum actuated device with a source of intake manifold vacuum downstream of the throttle valve; a hydraulic or solenoid valve arranged in the vacuum line for controlling the vacuum transmitted by the line; and a hydraulic or electrical circuit for controlling this valve in dependence upon the speed-dependent pressure produced by the governor.

Abstract: A throttle closing mechanism for an internal combustion engine makes use of a throttle closer which is moveable into and out of a position wherein the closer engages the throttle linkage. An electromagnet is arranged to retain the throttle closer in the linkage engaging position when the ignition switch is on. When the ignition is disconnected, the closing mechanism moves out of the linkage engaging position, thereby facilitating complete closing of the throttle flap and preventing engine run-on.

Abstract: An induction pipe for internal combustion engines having a distributor section and supply lines for the mixture with the deflector having means therein to even the distribution of the mixture and the deflector being formed by a wall between the branch off points and also provided with recesses.

Abstract: A carburetor for an internal combustion engine has a throttle valve in an intake channel for the passage of air and fuel to the engine. A fuel discharge nozzle and a piston valve in the intake channel upstream of the throttle valve cooperatively regulate the volume of fuel and air mixed in a mixture region of the intake channel between the piston valve and the throttle valve. Drive means position the piston valve in the intake channel relative to the nozzle in response to distinct control means dependent upon operating conditions of the internal combustion engine to regulate the mixture in dependence upon the operating conditions of the engine.

Abstract: A catalytic unit for treating gases, particularly exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, is formed by rigidly bonding together all or a peripheral portion of the particles of a mass of discrete, closely packed particles to form a bounded, unitary gas-porous structure. The particles are coated, either prior to or following bonding, with an active catalytic agent. In an embodiment of the invention especially adapted for internal combustion engine applications, the catalytic unit thus formed may advantageously be mounted within a housing by an elastic, heat-resistant member interposed between it and the housing.
