  • Patent number: 4384846
Abstract: A burner for gaseous and liquid fuels includes a hollow water cooled casing and a hollow water cooled jacket surrounding the casing. Two respective channels are formed in the burner for feeding fuel and oxygen-containing medium to a nozzle of the burner. The casing and the jacket form at their proximal ends a conical annular nozzle gap which receives a plurality of circumferentially distributed spacing elements. The spacing elements form between themselves a plurality of slots for discharging a combustible mixture of fuel and oxygen-containing medium from the nozzle gap. A heat-expansion compensator is provided in the burner which connects the casing with the jacket in axially prestressed position so that the casing is always in abutment with the jacket in the area of the nozzle gap via the spacing elements.

  • Patent number: 4295448
Abstract: A gas generator for operation on a fuel of fine-grained coal which includes a steam boiler, a combustion boiler and a stack leading from the combustion. chamber to the steam boiler. The steam boiler is provided with a slanting bottom portion for the discharge of fly ash and slag. The stack from the combustion chamber to the boiler is composed of a gas outlet pipe attached to the combustion chamber and a gas inlet pipe leading to the boiler. The gas outlet and gas inlet pipes are connected by attaching means. The gas inlet pipe has a double wall of which the inner wall with its top extends freely into the slanting bottom portion of the boiler and thus is adapted for axial heat expansion. The outer wall is provided with a heat expansion compensator and is connected with its top end to the said slanting bottom of the boiler and with its bottom end to the connecting means between the gas inlet and gas outlet pipes. The inner wall of the gas inlet pipe may be in the form of a jacket for holding a cooling water.

  • Patent number: 4094470
Abstract: Ashes and cinders which form during gasification of solid combustible substances are captured in a liquid body and form clinker granules of different sizes therein. A comminutor is arranged below the chamber in which the liquid body is accommodated so that the clinker granules descend into the comminutor in which the clinker granules are reduced to clinker particles having sizes equal to or smaller than a predetermined size. The comminutor may have two comminutor rollers rotated by respective drives in opposite directions about parallel horizontal axes. The drives are arranged outside and mounted on the comminutor housing, and are connected to the respective comminutor rollers by shafts penetrating through the comminutor housing and sealed by shaft seals. The comminutor may, in the alternative, include a single comminutor roller which cooperates with a grating tiltably mounted in the comminutor housing.

  • Patent number: 4009788
Abstract: Two spaces are provided, one of which is at a higher pressure than the other. A transfer arrangement serves for transferring a finely divided solid material, e.g., a combustible fuel, from one to the other space, usually from the lower-pressure space into the higher-pressure space. This arrangement includes a housing bounding a spherical chamber having two openings each of which communicates with one of the spaces. A spherical body is located turnably in the housing and provided with a blind bore the open end of which can be placed into communication with one or the other of the openings, depending upon the turning of the spherical body. A piston is reciprocable in this bore and can be retracted to draw a quantity of solid material into the blind bore when the open end thereof registers with one of the openings, and can be advanced for expelling the quantity when the open end registers with the other of the openings. A direct communication between the two spaces is therefore reliably avoided at all times.
