  • Patent number: 7475634
Abstract: A printing press is comprised of at least one printing cylinder. A displaceable inking unit and a displaceable plate changing device can alternatingly be placed against the printing cylinder or can be moved out of contact with it. The inking unit and the plate changing device are coupled together so that their respective displacements are accomplished by a common drive. The two move in opposite directions with respect to the printing cylinder and may be connected together. Alternatively, each may have its own drive, with the two drives being coupled together by a common controller.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 3, 2003
Date of Patent: January 13, 2009
    Assignee: Koenig & Bauer Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Claus-Dieter Barrois, Brigette Dunninger, legal representative, Reinhold Dünninger

  • Patent number: 6948428
Abstract: A method by which stacks of printed sheets can be formed and, at the same time, the risk of soiling of the stacked sheets can be reduced to the maximum extent. To this end a printing machine is proposed, in particular a sheet-fed printing machine, into which unprinted and intermediate sheets are alternatively feed, wherein the printing is registered such that the printing occurs only on the unprinted sheets and not on the intermediate sheets. In this way, the intermediate sheets prevent damage to the print on the printed sheets.

  • Patent number: 6877427
Abstract: A quality control device includes a suction box, at least one gripper which can be displaced along a suction surface of the suction box, and a CCD camera. A belt, which can be displaced in a sheet transport direction, is disposed on the suction surface of the suction box.

  • Patent number: 6688594
Abstract: A suction roller is used to transport aligned sheets in a sheet processing machine. A portion of the circumferential surface of the roller has suction ports. A drive motor is provided for the suction roller and can drive the suction roller at varying speeds. Sheets are transported by the suction roller to a subsequent transport system.

  • Publication number: 20030089253
Abstract: The printing press has at least one feed (31) for unprinted sheets (32), a plate cylinder (35) with at least one printing plate, a printing cylinder (36), a wiping device (49) and an inking system (37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45) for inking the necessary areas of a plate or plates carried by the plate cylinder (35). For a printing cylinder (36) that can carry N sheets on its periphery, N being a multiple of 2, the plate cylinder (35) comprises N/2 plates, so that half of the sheets (32) carried by the printing cylinder (36) are printed by each of the plates during a full rotation of the cylinders (35, 36).
