  • Patent number: 5170994
Abstract: In order to be able to handle containers of a height greater than the structural height of a rack and pinion jack in its retracted state, the top crosspiece of the rack and pinion jack is provided to be bent and provided with a double-acting engagement part. Thus, the top crosspiece can be brought into its top position with its engagement part engaging with the top corner metal fittings of a container of which the height exceeds that of the rack and pinion jack in a retracted state. By a simple 180.degree. rotation of the top crosspiece, its engagement part can be brought into engagement with the top corner metal fittings of another container, having a different structural height. In this manner, the rack and pinion jacks can be adapted to any height setting of the top crosspiece by 180.degree. rotation of the same to any two containers of different structural height.

  • Patent number: 5006032
Abstract: In mobile and steerable lifting and setting-down apparatus for large transportable receptacles, in order to ensure steerability of the apparatus not only in pulling operation, but also in backward pushing operation, steering arms are attached to be movable up and down to the wheel cradles carrying the running wheels, the steering arms being articulated by their free ends to a steering rod which is mounted to be movable rotationally about its axis. A central shaft is coupled to the steering rod to be relatively movable in the direction of the axis of the shaft. The central shaft is pivoted by its inner end by means of a pintle to a connecting piece which in turn is mounted on the large receptacle to be swingable about an axis parallel to the base of the receptacle. The articulation point for the central shaft on the connecting piece which is formed by the pintle is located laterally in alignment with the pivots of the two adjacent wheel cradles.

  • Patent number: 4961680
Abstract: A lifting and depositing device for a large container has connecting longerons which are approximately the height of the container and are attached to the corner fittings of the large container to be raised and lowered. The connecting longerons are arranged at the corners of the large containers and, at the bottom ends at some distance to the side, they support at least one more connecting longeron for an overhang beam of a rack and pinion jack. The rack and pinion jack can be raised and lowered along upright, at the bottom ends of which are arranged pairs of wheels. In order to be able to adjust the pairs of wheels in a simple manner to different track gauges (narrow and wide), the overhang beam can be attached either to the connecting longeron which is approximately the height of the container or to the additional connecting longeron.

  • Patent number: 4828308
Abstract: Lifting and depositing devices which have four rack and pinion jacks are used to raise and lower transportable large containers or to support them above the ground, and the jacks can be attached to a container by arms reaching to the ISO corner fittings of the container. Each arm has a connecting beam which is approximately the height of the container, which is supported by means of a journal arranged at its top end parallel and at some distance therefrom in a top ISO corner fitting an is detachably fastened to its bottom end by an angled connecting part by means of two snap locks. In order to allow this fastening to the bottom ISO corner fitting, at least, the one snap lock is configured as a modular removably structural part. The snap lock, however, is also suitable for other attachment components, for instance pulley blocks or roller trestles for large containers.

  • Patent number: 4811930
Abstract: Lifting and depositing devices for transportable large containers should be dismountable into individual parts of relatively low weight per part for simplification of their handling. So that this is also true of relatively long overhang arms of the rack and pinion jacks of such devices, each overhang arm is configured generally in the shape of a wrench having a narrow middle part and forked end parts, and is of generally flat construction, so that its greatest structural height corresponds only approximately to the structural height of the winch assembly. The overhang arms thus have a relatively narrow, lightweight middle portion and because of the flat construction following dismounting of the winch assembly and support legs they have the desired light weight per piece.

  • Patent number: 4765594
Abstract: The lifting and depositing device for a large container has four rack and pinion jacks attached to its corners at a low point by overhang beams. The racks are fastened to uprights, along which the rack and pinion jacks can be raised and lowered by suitable operation. In order to move the large containers with the lifting and depositing device, the bottom ends of the uprights are connected by wheel supports with wheels. The wheels are mounted on a wheel swiveling mechanism which has a support surface for the bottom end of the uprights. The wheel swiveling mechanism is rotatable relative to the uprights for controllability of the device. Each support surface for an upright is provided on a rocker mounted on the wheel swiveling mechanism for rotation about a substantially horizontal axis.

  • Patent number: 4706936
Abstract: With a lifting and depositing device for portable box-like articles, in order to be able to operate their rack and pinion jacks manually and with ease by crank assemblies, each crank assembly has a haft-like crankcase, which has at one end a rotatable crankshaft and at the other end a rotatable drive shaft, which can be connected with an adjacent rack and pinion jack having a winch housing. The crankshaft and drive shaft are operatively connected with each other so that the latter is driven by the former. The crankcase can be connected with an adjacent winch housing and be pivoted into different work positions as well as fixed in such positions on the winch housing. Thus, the operation of the rack and pinion jacks is especially simplified in their top and bottom end positions on the uprights of the lifting and depositing device.

  • Patent number: 4619439
Abstract: For the handling of portable large containers, lifting and depositing devices are used, which have rack and pinion jacks to be attached to the corners of the containers by brackets. There rack and pinion jacks have tubular winch shanks which are approximately the height of the containers, into which are guided tubular uprights with the racks. Because of tolerance variations, the danger here arises of an impaired guidance of the uprights with the result of a poor operation of the gearing. To avoid this difficulty, a guide tube is connected with the bottom end of each tubular winch shank. Guide surfaces in the guide tube can be produced with great precision and at low cost. The housing of the winch gearing is configured integral with the guide tube. Thus, a small amount of side play can be left between the upright and winch shank without adversely affecting the rack and pinion gearing operation.

  • Patent number: 4516901
Abstract: A movable lifting and depositing device comprising separate rack and pinion jacks to be connected to the corners of portable containers, e.g., cabins, containers, shelters or the like, by means of brackets, the jacks having racks for the containers provided on columns which have track wheels at the bottom. In order to maintain sufficient stability of the lifting and depositing device, even when the container to be handled is at relatively high positions, each rack and pinion jack has a swivel mechanism with two vertically spaced work positions. In its bottom work position, wherein it is folded down from a main column guide onto a relevant bracket, the swivel mechanism is to be connected with an auxiliary column guide arranged beneath the main column guide. This can be moved by the swivel mechanism into the top work position of the associated column.

  • Patent number: 4085494
Abstract: A wood-chipping cutter drum is rotatable about a drum axis and carries at least one elongated blade which has a cutting edge defining an orbit of rotation of the drum and which is radially displaceable in a blade direction relative to the drum axis. An adjustment device for aligning the cutting edge on an ideal desired orbit centered on the drum axis has an elongated alignment bar with a flat surface that can be brought into engagement with the cutting edge of the blade on a non-rotating drum to push it into a position lying exactly on the desired orbit. This bar is pivotal about an axis parallel to the cutting edge being adjusted and positioned relative to this cutting edge so that a line between the point of contact with the bar and the pivot axis for the bar forms a right angle with the displacement direction of the blade in the drum.
