  • Patent number: 4945842
Abstract: An embroidering machine which comprises a device for adjusting a size of a selected pattern, a device for storing the adjusted size, and an arrangement for storing upper and lower critical sizes of the selected pattern. The embroidering machine according to the invention further comprises a discriminating device for determining if the adjusted size of the selected pattern is larger or smaller than the upper or lower critical size of the selected pattern. There is further provided a control unit which, in response to determination that the adjusted size of the selected pattern is larger or smaller than the upper critical size of the selected pattern or larger or smaller than the lower critical size of the selected pattern, calculates data for controlling the positions of a fabric holding frame carrying a cloth to be embroidered with respect to a vertically reciprocating needle.

  • Patent number: 4932345
Abstract: A method of setting visually balanced spacing between characters to be embroidered by an embroidering sewing machine in which character forming information which is stored with a preset reference size is successively read out and the characters are displayed and aligned between two parallel line segments. The aligned characters are first arranged in such a manner that the contours of consecutive characters contact each other at least at one point. Then the space areas between characters are calculated and a maximum area of the calculated space areas is set as a reference space area; then increasing the distances between the characters such that the other space areas between the characters become equal to the reference space area; and finally arranging the characters at spacings which have been increased by a computed minimum distance.

  • Patent number: 4920902
Abstract: An automatic pattern sewing machine includes a memory for storing blocks of data for controlling the sewing of an applique piece on a base cloth. A separate sheet of paper is printed with a set of patterns corresponding to different sizes of an applique pattern of one type and with corresponding identification marks. The applique piece is prepared in conformity with the printed pattern of the selected size and the assigned printed identification mark is entered into the machine by a selecting key to activate a coordinate transforming means which adjust the stored data to the selected size of the pattern. The applique piece is then stitched along its perimeter onto the base cloth according to the adjusted information.

  • Patent number: 4580514
Abstract: Multiple hem stitches are produced for joining a plurality of superimposed fabric materials along their edges by employing a sewing machine having a pair of vertically reciprocating needles each carrying a needle thread and a pair of loopers each carrying a looper thread. The first and second needle threads extend along the fabric edge and in parallel with each other on the upper face of the fabrics and penetrate through the fabrics to form a first and second needle thread loops on the underside of the fabrics. The first needle thread loop is distended laterally to the fabric edge by the first looper. The first looper thread encompasses the first needle thread at each penetration point and extends laterally on the upper face of the fabrics to form a first looper thread loop which is caught by the descending first needle to be interlocked with the first needle thread loop along the fabric edge.

  • Patent number: 4579615
Abstract: A thread connecting device for a sewing machine cuts an upper thread which is extending between the sewing machine and one of a plurality of thread spools, and connects an end of a thread belonging to the sewing machine and an end of a thread belonging to the thread spool, in such a manner that the connected part of the threads can smoothly pass through a needle eye, whereby it is possible to supply a desired color thread with respect to the sewing machine having a single needle bar. Therefore the applicable scope of the pattern stitching may be largely widened for colored clothes or other fabrics, especially an embroidery stitching may be performed which requires many kinds of color threads.

  • Patent number: 4553544
Abstract: A suturing instrument for surgical operations is operated by an operator with his one hand. A suturing operation is carried out on a human part to be sutured up by crossing a needle thread and a shuttle thread in a lock stitching formation, the instrument being composed of independent members which are, for use, connected to each other easily, exactly and speedily. The main body of the instrument carrying a needle and a shuttle has an externally operated actuating member which actuates a signal generator incorporated in a connecting arrangement for connecting the main body with the drive part of the instrument, whereby when the drive part is connected to the main body by the connecting arrangement an operator may, by moving the actuating member, activate the drive through the signal generator and set all the parts of the instrument into operating positions.

  • Patent number: 4440171
Abstract: A surgical suturing instrument crosses and knots a suturing thread combining a shuttle and the other suturing thread passing through an eye of a curved needle in a lock stitching practice, for accomplishing smooth passage of passing the shuttle through a loop of the needle thread and exact combination of the shuttle thread and the needle thread without getting out the shuttle from a shuttle holder during the suturing operation so as to form sound suturing stitchings every time. The shuttle is accommodated between a shuttle holder and a shuttle claw. The shuttle is formed with a front end portion movable between a guide groove in the shuttle claw and a guide groove in the shuttle holder. The shuttle is further formed with a sharp end for catching a thread loop in the suturing operation.
