  • Patent number: 6618163
Abstract: In an information-processing system having workstations and at least one printer interconnected by a digital network, the current state of the printer or printers is presented on the screen of a workstation in the form of an icon. The printers are of a type which can carry out printing processes in an autonomous mode, in which a print job sent from a workstation is executed directly, and in a command-controlled mode in which a reproduction process, including a copying process, must be started from an operator control panel on the printer. When the printer is “occupied” in the autonomous mode, a different icon is displayed from that displayed when the printer is “occupied” in the command-controlled mode.

  • Patent number: 6545769
Abstract: A digital image reproduction apparatus including a scanner unit, a printer unit, a memory, an operator control unit integrated in the apparatus and provided with an input device and a display for the user to give operator control commands to the apparatus, a network connection unit for coupling to a network for the purpose of communication with a digital external environment including at least a number of workstations of users, a management unit connected to the scanner unit, printer unit, memory and network connection unit, and, via the network connection unit, to the workstations, which management unit maintains logic storage spaces in the memory, each allocated to a specific user.

  • Patent number: 6412994
Abstract: A method and apparatus for selectively depositing printed sheets on four superimposed supports which are adjustable as to height independently of one another, each support being adapted to be placed, for the deposition of a sheet thereon, with its support surface or the top sheet situated on the support surface placed a short fixed distance beneath a fixed delivery point and printed sheets of a first type (A) are deposited on the bottom support and printed sheets of a second type (B) are deposited on the supports situated thereabove, wherein out of a group of sheets of a second type (B) for deposition, a first part is first deposited on a higher-level support and then a second part is deposited on a support therebeneath.

  • Patent number: 5966503
Abstract: A digital copying/printing machine and method by which a set of images can be assembled from document images input in separate actions. This set can then be printed as a whole. Document images can be input by a scanner (physical documents) or via a connection to a digital environment, such as a network (digital document images). For digital document images, a storage unit is provided in which different images can be stored and which is provided with a selection function for selecting the required image for inclusion in the set. A separate input key is provided on the operating panel for starting an input action. Individual adjustments for the printed product can be made for each input action, e.g., for lighter or darker or single or double-sided printing. An image input in this manner is included in a set file in the memory of the machine. In response to actuation of a print key on the operating panel, the entire set file is printed.

  • Patent number: 5068809
Abstract: Desktop publishing system for preparing and managing documents in accordance with a model defined by graphic properties by using input document information and commands. This model is specified by a number of differently oriented sets of grid lines equidistantly oriented per set, for the positioning of said document information. On the basis of the last grid line used as reference line for graphic elements, the format data of the graphic elements positioned as well as to be positioned, and a certain spacing a grid line to be defined as the next reference line for the graphic elements to be positioned is selected from the grid lines following the first mentioned reference line.

  • Patent number: 5001654
Abstract: In a publishing system for editing documents having a processing unit, inputting device and a display screen, the document parts (components) are provided with properties which describe their appearance, and each individual component belongs to a component type. The component types and the individual components of that type have corresponding properties, the values of which can be set by the system operator. The value of a property of an individual component is usually identical to the value of the corresponding property of that type but may also be set to differ locally therefrom. This is indicated on the screen. On a change of the value of a property of a component type the value of each individual component of that type is changed similarly unless that value had been set to be locally different.
