  • Patent number: 5974949
Abstract: The espresso machine works with filter capsules and has a scalding unit (4) with two scalding chamber parts (2, 3) which can be moved relative to each other between an opening position and a closing position. The scalding chamber parts (2, 3) enclose between them in their opening position a gap (1). The gap (1) provided for throwing in the filter capsules can be closed by a swivel-type upper lever (15) and towards the bottom also by a swivel-type lower lever (18). Preferably the machine is equipped with a drain pipe (14) the angle of which can be adjusted. The adjustability of the drain pipe (14) permits the use of larger cups whereas spilling of espresso past the cup is avoided when smaller cups are used. Preferably the drain pipe is mounted in the base of a drain tub.

  • Patent number: 5207149
Abstract: Apparatuses for the preparation of different hot drinks, such as in particular espresso machines, conventionally have a multiway valve (2), which is used for supplying hot water or superheated steam produced in a water heater to different means, such as coffee filters, frothing nozzle and/or collecting vessels. As a result of high temperatures and pressures the multiway valve is exposed to considerable stresses, which in the long term cannot be withstood by known valves or only when a complicated and costly construction is adopted. In the novel apparatus the multiway valve is provided with a perforated disk (8) and a rotary control dial (9). Rods (14) for closing the distributing passages (5) are passed through the holes in the perforated disk. The distributing passages are provided in a distributing block (1) to which the multiway valve is flanged. The position of the rods is determined by the rotary position of the control dial provided with a guide link for the rods.

  • Patent number: 4880383
Abstract: A system for fastening a dental prosthesis comprising a support element to be fitted in the mouth and a fastening element to be fitted on the prosthesis with the support element being designed to detachably retain said fastening element. According to the invention, the support element comprises a bottom portion and a top portion. At least the top portion is made, at least in part, of magnetic material, and the support element has an essentially oval contour in sideview and includes attaching means for attaching it to at least one dental element. The fastening element comprises a cover plate of magnetically receptive material capable of at least partially embracing the support element.
