  • Patent number: 4705286
Abstract: In a bicycle frame comprising a plurality of tubes having hollow ends and a plurality of fittings having pins fitting in the hollow ends, each pin extends along an axis and has an outer surface portion of axially constant section centered on the axis and engaged in the respective tube end, an inner surface portion centered on the axis and flaring axially inward away from the inner end of the respective outer surface portion, and a shoulder surface projecting generally perpendicular from the inner end of the respective inner surface portion and facing outward. Each tube end has an end surface abutting flatly inward on the respective shoulder surface and an inner surface having an inner surface portion fitted tightly over and complementary to the inner surface portion of the respective pin and an outer surface portion radially slightly spaced from and facing the outer surface portion of the respective pin.

  • Patent number: 4673017
Abstract: An awning has a flexible awning panel having generally parallel upper and lower edges, an elongated winder secured to the upper edge and extending along and rotatable about a longitudinally extending winder axis, and a stabilizer bar secured to the lower edge. Respective longitudinally spaced hinged arms have outer ends secured to the stabilizer bar and inner ends. At least one mounting bracket adapted to be secured to a wall or ceiling surface is formed with two transversely spaced and longitudinally extending bracket pivots. At least one respective support engaged around the winder to support same is formed with a plurality of transversely spaced and longitudinally extending support pivots. Two links each having one end pivoted on the bracket at a respective one of the bracket pivots and another end pivoted on the support at a respective one of the support pivots form two opposite sides of a parallelogrammatic-type linkage and the support and bracket forming the other two opposite sides thereof.

  • Patent number: 4395603
Abstract: A handlebar brake for a motorcycle, motor bicycle or the like comprises a support for the brake lever which is biased into its rest position by a restoring spring. The restoring spring handles a hollow contactor body in recess of the support and this body contains a rocker which has a formation reaching through an opening in the body and spring biased for contact with the lever. When the lever is actuated, a movable contact on the rocker engages between stationary contact blades in the body to complete an electric circuit to the stop light.

  • Patent number: 4307625
Abstract: An actuator for mounting on a part such as a cycle handgrip and for operating a cable having a core and a sheath has a one-piece lever, a one-piece support carrying the lever, and a clamp for securing the support to the part. The lever is unitarily formed with an elongated handle, with a laterally projecting foot having a pair of opposite outwardly facing sides, with respective coaxially aligned cylindrical pivot pins projecting oppositely outwardly from the sides, and with a holding formation for the end of the cable core.

  • Patent number: 4163482
Abstract: The invention provides a center-pull calliper brake for a bicycle or the like in which the callipers are hinged about respective axes which are inclined with respect to the median plane of the wheel rim in such a way as to diverge when considered along the direction of movement of the wheel during forward travel of the vehicle. This gives a self-applying braking effect which considerably increases the safety of the bicycle.

  • Patent number: 4027855
Abstract: Guard rail having an inclined rail, for staircase or access stairway. The rails are essentially constituted by U-shaped profile sections. The vertical rails are fixed on the rails by elastic clipping action between the flanges of the profile sections. The notches made in the vertical bars to provide this clipping action are incurvate, which makes it possible to adapt one and the same guard rail to variable angles of inclination of the handrail.

  • Patent number: 4015826
Abstract: A railing is secured to a base by means of a mounting assembly comprising an upright mounting post provided at its lower end with a foot that is bolted against a mounting block on the base. The upper surface of the mounting block and the lower surface of the foot correspond to complementary surfaces of a segment of a torus and the bolt that passes through the two elements is offset from a radius of rotation of the torus. The mounting post is adjusted by displacing the mounting block underneath its foot until the post is perfectly vertical.

  • Patent number: 4013144
Abstract: A caliper brake for cycles and the like in which a bridge piece secures the caliper brake to the cycle frame and a pair of arms are pivotally mounted and carry brake jaws which press against the cycle wheel when a cable is drawn. According to the invention at least one of the arms and the support are connected by a threaded member and are respectively tapped so as to receive the threaded member as a screw-and-nut connection. A clearance is provided axially to permit the arm to move slightly as it is rotated about the screw member on the latter.
